5 o'clock Shadow

Post by Kody » Sun Oct 16, 2011 3:42 pm

Strange thing going on. Noticed a couple years ago my beard growth seemed to have slowed down. Just figured it was a middle age thing. Have been on my ASV Machine for about 4 months now, and a couple weeks ago noticed my beard growth seems to have picked up again. Not a ZZ Top type difference, but almost have to shave again in the afternoon. The only thing I could think of was maybe my testosterone levels increased due to more restful sleeping. Any one else notice anything like this?

Hi Kody,
I have a beard so no change there.

If testosterone related, have you noticed increased growth in other parts of your body?

... No, everything else seems to be about the same. Haven't noticed an increase in Football watching, beer drinking or anything else along those lines, just the warewolf facial hair thing.

If cpap caused that kind of growth most men would probably be 100% compliant!!

I have notice this same thing, in fact I thought of bringing a razor with me to work.

Ok guys ! testosterone is replaced at night during sleep ! I would think great sleep would help, Im getting great sleep on my ASV machine and also have noticed a significant increase in testosterone related function. Im sure you know what I mean. Im 73 years old and have definitely enjoyed the better performing toy! So ladies get your man a Cpap machine!

So there seems to be an upside to strapping this chunk of plastic on our faces every night. Possibly keeping our hair when we get older and not needing Viagra! Next maybe will see late night infomercials with Hugh Hefner pushing his Playboy CPAP Machine for Men.

Ok, I started this by asking a serious question and it went down hill from there..

Interesting post. I'm actually curious to see more replies to your question.
I'm 29 and have the testosterone levels of an elderly man. I was just diagnosed with OSA and have probably had it since childhood.
Having low test can make a man feel miserable (I know) and the thought of my CPAP helping to raise my levels to where they should be is very exciting to me.

I've read studies that showed men with OSA who started XPAP therapy had significant rises in their testosterone levels after three months, but it's more interesting to hear first hand experiences from those of you who have noticed hormonal changes after starting therapy.

Help give this young guy some hope and share more experiences.

Casey...

What an interesting thread. I just got my prescription for an APAP today. Sure would be nice to get off that expensive Androgel!!!

Or it could be related to the extra blood oxygen or lowered levels of stress hormones.
In any case, congratulations, guys. Enjoy!

Not sure what the exact reason is however it still seems to be continuing. I'm starting to wonder though if beard growth is also seasonal in any way? I may give up and grow a beard because I'm starting to wear out razors at this rate!
