Raw nasal passage after sleep

Post by Fossy » Sun Oct 02, 2011 8:27 am

Well, i've finally started adjusting to sleeping with a mask meaning I'm not just tearing it off each night when i sleep and sometimes i manage to wake up and put the damn thing back on.. But the nights that I do manage to wake up to put the mask back I tend to feel very raw inside my nose when i wake up.. feeling usually goes away after 3 -5 hours after i wake up but it's still annoying.. While it's not exactly painful it's distracting and i was wondering/hoping that there might be some sort of solution for it?

More humidity. Your nasal passages are drying out. Some Ayr Saline Nasal Gel or Lansinoh gently rubbed into your nasal passages will bring relief and help them heal and toughen up.

Meanwhile, the cause is most likely insufficient humidity. Is there an integrated heated humidifier w/your PR S1 PAP?? It is unusual for the integrated, heated humidifier to NOT be scripted along w/the PAP now days.

If you have the humidifier but just didn't list it in your profile then read your Humidifier Users Manual for how to adjust the amount of humidity until you find THE right setting(s) for your needs.

I recently upped my humidifier setting to 3, and I am much more comfortable. Ayr gel sits on my nightstand, for use every night before masking up, and in the morning if needed.
If these things don't work, let us know.

Try adjusting your cpap humidity. Also dab your nostrils (inside and out) with Ayr nasal gel or something similar when you go to bed and in the morning.

Agreeing with everyone here. My humidifier died on me and I didn't know for a few days. Got a replacement and set my humidity to 3.5 and that seems to be working just fine for me. My house has forced air but no humidifier on the furnace which is why I keep mine a bit on the high side.

Carl LaFong, WHO is that movie star in your avatar. I recognize him but can't put a name to his face.

Lloyd Nolan??
