To begin with, I am using Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2. When I go out, I always clean out my cache. I do not delete my “cookies”. When I return, I must log in again, even though I check the box “log me in automatically”. I seems to have happened just recently. Is this a “glitch” with SP2? Even after I log in, it does not indicate that I am “browsing this forum”. I checked my profile and can not see a place to log out on exit. Does anyone have any ideas?

Tis a glitch in the forum, not a glitch in you.
You will notice we get a LOT of messages on the forum:
"OOPS, the previous message was me. I forgot to log in."
The forum software remembers people just often enough that most people do not get in the habit of logging in every time.
I figure its a small price to pay for such a great forum!
The moderators are painfully aware of the problem and I am sure they have done what they could to fix it.
One thing to check is a spot somewhere in the control panel under security where you can customize the security for a particular site, especially the level of type of cooke allowed. I found adding this site to "exceptions" list helped a little bit.

I have a pair of computers set up the same, one has to log-in every time you post and someitmes it wont log-in at all. The other one logs-on and works part time. I post on 6 fourms, this is the only one that has trouble, it is software. Also I use IE Spell check, on the machine I am on now if I use it IE crashes, the forum spell check is very limited. This Forum program isn't correct, however the people who run the Forum are great and provide a fine service for us.

Thanks for the input. I tried all of your suggestions and apparently one of them worked. Only time will tell.

Cooool! And THANKS!Kemosabe wrote:I've run into this problem on other boards (not here). How I usually fix it is to go to your cookies directory and delete every cookie that has "cpaptalk.com" in the name. Then log in as usual making sure to have "remember me" selected. 9 times out of ten this fixes it.
THAT worked on my antique machine at work that is still running Win2000.
I don't know if its a permanent fix or has to be done regularly yet, but it took me from not being able to log in at all, to having it act "normally" for now....so far anyway.
