air blowing on wife from vent
air blowing on wife from vent
I am the wife. My husband has a ResMed full face mask and the vent at the top blows straight out. Hubby frequently sleeps on his side facing me and the air from the vent blows in my face or the back of my head. Do they make any kind of adapter that would direct that air up toward the top of his head so I can sleep too?
Re: air blowing on wife from vent
Simple solution...have him sleep on his other side.

Re: air blowing on wife from vent
Change sides of the bed so his favored side is facing the outside of the bed. Air has to come out of that vent. Some masks have that air directed differently so that it is not straight out. That is something you could look at in the future, but if his mask is fitting well you don't want to change anything.

Re: air blowing on wife from vent
Lay a pillow between the two of you. A tube type would work best and allow you to sleep closer to each other.

Re: air blowing on wife from vent
I've got a pillow that is just firm enough to prop up a bit, I put it in between her pillow and mine, and it is just high enough to stop the vent from blowing on her.bevgo wrote:I am the wife. Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Great suggestion and simple solution, which is usually the best.nanwilson wrote:Lay a pillow between the two of you. A tube type would work best and allow you to sleep closer to each other.

Re: air blowing on wife from vent
Sounds simple but he does turn over during the night or I would switch sides. I have resorted to covering his face with a quilt or covering the back of my head with the quilt. I was just wondering if they made something to direct the air away from me--selfish I know--LOL. I will check with the DME company and see what they say. They are just way too expensive at times. The pillow sounds worth a try though.

I get you, believe me. I am the user and the cold air blows back on me at times. It is cold. For now, it is a nuisance that comes along with the therapy.Bevgo wrote: I was just wondering if they made something to direct the air away from me--selfish I know--LOL.

Re: air blowing on wife from vent
Hi Bev,
On my mask, the air blows out the side of the elbow. So to change direction, all I need to do is to change the hose orientation. From going down on my stomach or up above my head changes the air flow 180 degrees. So once you find a good hose config, then use a hose hanger to help keep it there. That's my solution...

Her name isn't bevgo. Her name is Annette, and she is my wife. She has been threatening for the past five years to write that post. So far, she has put up with it and me. We have made 52 years of marriage till now. Guess I'd better figure out something if I am to make 53 years.

The pillow is a good idea. I sleep with my mate and just don't sleep on my right side. It's a small sacrifice.

You're a smart man Amos. But tell Annette she needs to be understanding and supportive of you too.amos wrote:Her name isn't bevgo. Her name is Annette, and she is my wife. Re: air blowing on wife from vent
My wife builds a pillow wall every night. Sometimes it falls over and air blows on her and she wakes up and has to re-build it. This is the best solution she has found to the problem and I think she's happy with it.
