Different Masks=Different Pressure??

Post by TomJoad39 » Fri Sep 23, 2011 3:19 pm

Hi. I am a CPAP 'new guy', Im sure this will be an easy question for most of you to answer. I was titrated (is that a word?) at 9cm with a full face mask. Recently, leaks and the battling of leaks has caused me to look at a possible switch to a nasal mask. I have a PR System One REM pro C-Flex+ machine.
Will I need to have the machines pressure adjusted for the nasal mask? I currently use a ResMed Ultra Mirage mask.

No need to change pressure when trying different masks. Yes 9 cm is correct terminology.

With the PR System One Pro you have some software options. Explained with examples here.

TomJoad,
I tried about six masks before finding one that I could really be comfortable with. You might want to consider the Resmed Mirage Softgel nasal mask. Finding the right mask is such a personal thing but is the key to good results. Good luck with therapy. It gets easier with time.

Some people think you may need more pressure with a full face mask than a nasal mask. If this is so in your case, changing to the nasal mask will probably work just fine even if your pressure is a little higher than absolutely necessary.

In theory, you need to set the correct mask resistance level for your mask, but it will still work OK without it.
