Will be trying out my new mask tonight...Activa!

Post by Barb (Seattle) » Thu Feb 02, 2006 4:44 pm

It looks great The mask moves independently of the cushion...what a great idea. I tried it at pressure 12 in the office, and there were no leaks. I think I'll try it out for a nap, and see how it goes. I'm sure I'll still have to use the ace bandage for mouth breathing, but that's ok...

I thought about buying the Activa. Heard good things about it, but also heard some not so good things. Hope it works for you. I recently purchased the Aura and am very happy. I was using the Ultra Mirage II. Love my Aura (well, don't really love any mask, but it's my current favorite).

Are you a side sleeper? If so, you may find those larger nasal masks not so comfy when on your side.

Keep us posted.

Yep, I'm a side sleeper...and I took my nap. It did leak a little bit, felt like a little wisp of air around my eyes occasionally, but it worked ok. Tried to use it without the ace bandage, but my mouth kept poppin' open as usual LOL It's really strange, because when I used the full face mask, my mouth stays closed *shrug*

Barb you should try tape. It works great for so many people. Then you could get rid of the ace bandage.

If you haven't yet, be sure to search for more Activa threads. It is worn a little differently than most of the nasal masks!

Whatever works best.

I have an Activa mask which I think is good for higher pressures. After switching from the Ultra Mirage to the Activa, I found the UM to be lighter weight, smaller, and more comfortable so I switched back to the UM.

Whatever works best for you.

Barb, if you find the ace bandage doesn't work for you and tape doesn't work, you might want to try just closing your mouth and keeping it closed. That's what I did. Again... whatever works best.

I like my Activa, although I rotate every other night with a swift.
I definitely get much less mask leaks with the Activa over the Swift.

If you get a bit of a leak around the eyes, generally either just giving the seal a bit of a poke at the spot or pulling it away from your face and reseating it will take care of it with the Activa. I thrash around quite a bit and it is very impressive on how well it seals.

I hope it works out for you!

I have a new Activa, I have spoke of it on here, but I just can't seem to get used to the intense pressure it puts on my face and the corner of my eyes. Hope it works well for you!

I tried tape...couldn't deal with the wetness that escaped through my lips...it caused the adhesive to feel weird LOL

going to bed now, can't wait to feel better! Thanks for all the thoughts and feedback

I just bought my second Activa just so that I would have a spare. For some reason this new one seems to do a better job at sealing than my old one. I am a side sleeper and have no problem with it. Snork is right, if it leaks around the eyes usually a little poke will seal it. My biggest problem is with the lower corners of my mouth like when smiling.
