Chest Discomfort

Post by hosehead2 » Thu Feb 02, 2006 10:07 am

I am a recent member of the hosehead club! I started CPAP eight days ago and I am starting to really notice that I am not feeling as tired. However my chest feels like I have pulled muscles in my chest/rib cage area. Is this normal? I do not recall doing anything to hurt myself but it started when I started this new experiance, currently my prescibed pressure is 12 if that could have something to do with it. Thanks for any info...

I am NOT an MD but it occurs to me that there may be a couple of reasons:

1. The exertion of your lungs against the pressure of the CPAP might be causing some pain.
2. Minor lung infection
3. Angina

At any rate, I would call your MD immedately with chest pains...especially if they are associated with shortness of breath, dizziness or numbness/pain in the left arm....better yet....take an aspirin and go to the ER. Chest pains are nothing to mess around with.

I do not have shortness of breath or any of the "stereotypical" heart attach symptoms. What I do have is a chest and ribcage that feels sore for lack of a better description. I agree better safe than sorry and will be checked out by my doctor.

Chest pain is very common. Use the search function and you'll find lots of posts about it.

Yes common common every once in awhile i get the same thing, mine seems to be along the sides of my rib cage, this will go away after a day or so. mine will come back after a bad night when my pressure is up higher than normal. But keep an eye on it.
