I had my appt. with the sleep doc today to get the results of my study. My goodness! Average 66.8 incidents of apnea per hour, with oxygen sats as low as 44%. They gave me my machine today, a Fisher and Paykel, and I will use it for the first time tonight. Wish me luck. I don't think I have seen this type of machine mentioned in this forum, does anyone else have one or have any opinions? They didn't give me a choice, they just gave me this one.
Thanks,
Carol

F&P are a New Zealand company famous for Refrigerators & Washers. They have a Healthcare division that produces quality healthcare products.
The best stand-alone Heated Humidifier on the market has to be the F&P HC150.
This H/H is built into most recent F&P cpap machines.
What model is yours ? am guessing a 200 series

The latest F&P units introduced (2005) a heated tube model that helps reduce rainout. http://www.fphcare.com/osa/cpaps.asp HC604 HC608
I have tried the HC221LE CPAP and enjoyed it. The things I like about it included :-
1) The fan noise is constant and at a low enough pitch that it acts like 'white noise'
2) Nothing I did breathing could change the sound of the fan (some machines tend to 'whine' up & down)
3) The integrated humidifier make it a nice size for the bedside
4) The h/h works *very* well & has 'ambient tracking' which does help a bit with rainout (the prior model F&P h/h was the HC100 - I have one & it does give more rainout that the newer models with ambient tracking).
5) The fan is robust and well made.
Hope this helps a bit
Cheers

My initial machine that I had for my 1 month trial period was a Fisher & Paykel model 233. I ended up returning it and opting for an Auto. The F & P machines are pretty much the same, just the circuit control board is changed. They are fine machines. If you like the machine you might opt for a model 604. It comes with the heated hose. No other machine I know of has a standard heated hose . This will save you having to by an Aussie heated hose which costs $100US plus another $20US for the power adapter.
