Fisher & Paykel ICON Auto: Need advice

Post by FeelingBetter » Tue Sep 06, 2011 2:28 pm

My insurance carrier is going to reimburse me (up to a limit) on a CPAP machine that I would then own. The F&P ICON Auto looks to be a good choice with high reviews. I would like input on what people think of this machine or what other options are good ones from $800 or less. (I need an Auto machine with humidification and complience software). Thanks in advance for help. Your site has helped me immensely in just the first few weeks of CPAP use.

The software for the F & P Icon is next to impossible to buy/find/obtain. I wouldn't want any machine I couldn't get the software for.

Cpap.com sells my machine (shown in my Profile an APAP) with humidifier combo purchase for $635.
Multiple choices for easily available free software. SleepyHead, Onkor, Encore Pro.

DeVilbiss Autoadjust travel model has software available for purchase.
$584 (machine and humidifier) plus $150 for software

I've been using this machine for a couple of months now and really like it. Mind you, it's the only machine i have tried so i can't compare it to other machines. It's really small and compact and very quiet. With regard to the software, this is the main problem with this machine. If you know where to look, the software IS easily obtainable and free (hint: google is your best friend). If you can't find it online, there is a place here in Oz that is selling the software. Their contact details were mentioned on this forum only a week or so ago so maybe do a search for F&P infosmart on this forum. I've also read on another forum that the F&P powers that be are developing a more user friendly version of the software that will be available for purchase sometime in the near future.

Not only the software but think about when you need help and ask questions. Or if you are the new kid on the block and need help with toys no one else has played with?

Until F & P create a software for Users & not Clinicians only, use the software that is available. Once you obtain and download the software it is a 30 day trial version but you can register it and get a serial number FREE. No strings attached just go into the User Manual (on the top dark blue line near the top of the screen)and all the relevant reg info is there. As you may have seen on the forum the software is very user friendly and informative and in my opinion CRUCIAL.

Is that link to fisher paykel performance maximizer or compliance maximizer software? I already purchased fisher paykel compliance maximizer disk from cpap dot com they show reference to performance maximizer but will not sell it. I'd like to have both.

I've been using this machine 5+ months and like its compactness, humidifier, quietness... However, I just got the software last week. Had to get my sleep doc's note. Ordered from AU.
Email:- cpapmarlincoast@hotmail.com
Fax:- (07) 40 578060 (from the USA 011 61 7 40 578060)
Postal:- Marlin Coast Amcal Pharmacy
Shop 1-2 Campus Shopping Village
Smithfield QLD 4878
I called and talked to Sammi (call from U.S. in evening and you'll get them midday). Received software in 1 week. $57.95 included shipping, currency exchange, etc.

Yes, it's available via torrents, but I had some difficulty with that since I'm on dial-up. Price of software from AU was cheaper than 1 month of satellite internet, which isn't reliable anyway where I live in the country.

"Pugsy" on this forum has been researching this software and can help you a bit, if needed. pm her. She posted a page of my data on the forum "Got Software - F&P Auto Icon" which you can search for and read.

Good luck. pm me if you have other questions.
