Contour CPAP Pillow?????

Post by MCX09 » Mon Sep 05, 2011 11:02 am

Has anyone tried the Contour CPAP Pillow? I'm considering ordering one but thought I would seek input from more experienced CPAP users before doing so. I am a side sleeper and find I often move my mask while sleeping with a traditional pillow. Any advice or suggestions welcome.

I am interested in seeing the answers to this also. My situation is same as yours. I've seen those pillows and they look very uncomfortable. I currently sleep with four pillows - two on each side of the bed.

that's one of the things that I am having trouble with in regard to this situation. I have a big comfortable bed and always looks forward to gettting there and snuggling in. Now I dread it because I know I am going to toss and turn and not sleep all night.

I just use a small travel pillow. I turn over alot, and this way, when I do I am always at the edge of the pillow so the mask doesn't get dislodged. It works for me. Bummer is that I had just bought new queen size pillows prior to getting APAP. They are nice, and just sitting there.

I bought this one and I really like it. I'm a side sleeper and the pillow doesn't get in the way of my mask on account of the way the side is made. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/SleePA ... illow.html It was a little hard for me at first but it softened up or I got use to it.

I just recently started using the Countour CpapMax pillow and really like it. Like you, I use a lot of soft pillows and had my reservations about something new. The CpapMax is smaller than I thought it would be and a bit stiffer. The bottom line for me is that the cut-outs on either side of the pillow work as designed and I don't have near the problems I used to have trying to get my pillow just-so to accommodate my mask. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was able to get used to it in only a couple of nights. The CpapMax has a memory foam side and a quilted, more traditional fiber fill side. I chuckle when I see the little pillow on my bed because it's dwarfed by my wife's pillows on the other side, but hey, it works. If it's not thick enough you can always raise it up with another pillow underneath.

It's so thin it's like not having a pillow at all. It's terrible, I returned it.

I bought a memory foam pillow. It works really well, especially if I sleep closer to the end of the pillow. It also supports my neck which I really like!

My husband uses the same pillow and alternates with a memory foam contour pillow when he wants a change. He does OK with either.

I have used the contour pillow for several months and I love it! It is a memory foam pillow and it's a hard pillow. But, you can flip to either side and the indention in the pillow prevents the mask interference. It has a slight incline down that keeps your head in place. It also has a small support for your neck.

Great pillow... but you must like:
- a hard pillow
- no fluff
- a pillow that's only a couple of inches high

I have the contour pillow, but it doesn't work for me. I finally bought a buckwheat pillow, and after an adjustment period, I never use anything else. You adjust the amount of wheat hulls to suit yourself. Then you can push them around to suit yourself and accommodate your mask.
