Intellipap smartflex irnd and ernd

Post by Fvell » Sat Sep 03, 2011 5:38 am

Hi all,

i'm struggling here to find the best setup on my Apap machine. So, I'm facing each config with care, doing my tests and hopefully expecting to reach nirvana one day. My question now is about the smartflex irnd an ernd. What exatcly these settings do, what can happen when we change them and what would be the recomended for most of the people?

Thanks!

This document will be very helpful to you in understanding your Intellipap.

http://www.devilbisshealthcare.com/file ... T-2089.pdf

Just as information my SmartFlex is set for full time, iRND at 1 and eRND at 2.

(From an old post by the DeVilbiss Rep) who is on this forum, by the way. "full time means SmartFlex will be enabled through-out the entire therapy session.

iRND stands for inspiratory rounding and eRND stands for expiratory rounding. This feature of SmartFlex is a DeVilbiss patented technology called Flow Rounding and has been featured on DeVilbiss Bilevel S devices for years. Flow Rounding allows you to customize pressure transitions into and out of inspiratory and expiratory pressure. The higher you set the number, the smoother the pressure waveform becomes."

Your lower pressure should be set the same as your titrated pressure, not lower. I would set the higher pressure about 5 above that and adjust as needed. Good luck, keep us posted.
