PR System One Auto with A-Flex Need to Program Pressure
Hi there,
I just puchased a used Respironics PR System One Auto machine with A-flex and need to program my pressure into it. Can anyone tell me how to get into that interface on the machine? Also, can anyone tell me how to clean the water tank on the humidifier? It has the dry box feature and now that I have filled it and cleaned it with sterilizer solution, I am unable to get all of the water out. I am not sure if the top is suppose to come off? If it is, it is extremely hard to do and I am afraid of breaking something. Thank you so much!!

To open the humidifier, you first lift up the gray lid and then pull the clear plastic humidifier straight out the front. Then when you are looking at the clear plastic humidifier, there's a circle on the top. Stick your finger in the circle and push on the inside of the circle toward the front (there's a little tab there that you have to depress). Then the lid should lift off easily from the front (it's hinged at the back).
You'll want to eventually get a copy of the clinician manual for the machine. There's a link around somewhere if you search for it. To get to the clinician manual, though, you rotate the dial until "Setup" is highlighted, then push and hold the dial and the ramp button simultaneously for a few seconds until it gets to the clinician menu.

Hi:
I have the manual at home in PDF that will tell you how to program it, but I won't be home until midnight EST.
It's a little involved with all the setttings, but I think you get into the programming menu by turning the wheel until "setup" is highlighted, then hold both the wheel and the ramp button down at the same time. Try that, but be careful not to change settings until you know what they were originally.
If you look at the top of the water chamber, through the hole in the top, you should see a tab you have to press to get the top off - I had trouble with that too!
GREAT machine, BTW.

I am online now and will be for a little while.
Send me a private message with your private email address and I will send you the clinician manual in pdf format. I can't do attachments here at the forum message system.
The manual will tell you how to change the pressure and some other needed information. It tells how to check hours of use and also how to reset the data so your data will be the only data on the machine. (you may want to get a new SD card or erase the previous owners data from the card so it won't mess with your reports)
Also read this about your software options. I can help with software also.

Look at the humidifier and see the seam where it should come apart. You can see the rubber gasket near the top of the humidifier.
Find the hinges where the top part of the humidifier has two tabs with slots that go over the bottom part of the humidifier. Put the hinges to your left.
Look down into the hole in the top. Stick your right index finger into the center of this hole. You'll be resting on the top of clear plastic tube molded into the chamber. Slide your finger to the right along the top of this tube. (Away from the hinges.)
Your finger is now resting on a tab that comes down from the right side of the hole and grabs the end of the tube you have your finger on. This holds the two halves together. Press the tab to the right. It doesn't take much pressure. The tab is about 1 inch long and works by flexing. Lift up on the top.
It's very easy once you figure it out, but a surprising number of people have a hard time doing it the first time.
Once it's open, put it in the dishwasher. The PRS1 humidifier tank is dishwasher safe. I wouldn't wash it with dirty dishes at the same time, though.

Re: PR System One Auto with A-Flex Need to Program Pressure
Hi Pugsy,
I sent you a private message. Thank you for this information. I currently have an M-Series with A-Flex and have been happy with it, but it has started making a high pitched noise and I am afraid something is going out in the motor, and I did not have a back up machine. I am looking forward to trying this new one because I hear that it is quieter!! I have never used the SD card in the machine I have and know nothing about this. Is there any information for a beginner on using the SD card and how to get the info off of it? How do you get it onto your computer? Thank you so much for your help!!

Re: PR System One Auto with A-Flex Need to Program Pressure
I have used a M series machine also. I just got this PR S1 last spring.
The SD card eliminates the need to use the special card reader that we needed to read the M series smart card and utilize the software. If your new machine doesn't have a SD card in the slot in the back of the machine above where the filters go then you can get a generic SD card 1 or 2 GB is fine. Don't get one of the fancy HD SD cards for fancy camera images. Plain card is fine. About $10 or so at Walmart.
The machine stores some data on the machine when used and then transfers it to the SD card. You can easily reset the machine data to erase the previous users data from the machine. Overall blower hours won't change but therapy hours can be changed. If it has a SD card on it you will want to erase that data. Format the card or erase it and put it back in the PR S 1 slot and the machine will do the rest.
First time using software can be daunting but it really isn't difficult. Encore Pro and Viewer software will look for the card and you don't have to do anything except put card in computer.. SleepyHead takes a tiny bit of navigation and it is still alphaware and if you aren't very techy it might give you a headache but I had someone the other night who couldn't get Pro installed (computer error) and she managed SleepyHead with just a wee bit of instruction.
Once you see a few of your reports and come to terms with the features... isn't hard at all.
That clinician manual I sent you also has some definitions in it that will help a lot.
I am a bit techy, so I will be glad to try to help with getting you comfortable with software. I keep meaning to compose a tutorial of sorts but always run out of time..

Ronda,
Pugsy has the clinician manual as well, she will help you out with that.
On the SD cards, I wanted you to know, I'm pretty into computer stuff, and I had several PNY SD cards that absolutely would not work. I used the Sandisk SD cards I have with no problem.
Sandisk used to make, and may still, an SD card that also has a USB port on it if you don't have an SD card slot or a care reader for your computer.
I have to check though, I'm not sure, some of the software out there to read your data may look specifically to a card slot on your computer, plugging a Sandisk card into a ISB port might not work right. Does anyone know if the softwares out there insist on the data coming from the SD card slot?
If you're interested in a Sandisk SD card with USB port, let me know and I'll see if they're still available, they are so easy to use.
Pugsy knows ALL about the software options to read the SD cards. Ask her!

These are so awesome, it's what I'm using.
But I'm plugging it into the card slot reader, not the USB port.

Re: PR System One Auto with A-Flex Need to Program Pressure
Don't believe it matters. I have a friend that has a computer without an SD slot so she had to get a little reader to use the USB port on her computer for PR S1 SD card. She was able to use it easily with Encore Pro and now SleepyHead.lee_leses wrote:Does anyone know if the softwares out there insist on the data coming from the SD card slot?

Thank you both Pugsy and Lee_Leses for the info on the SD cards, readers and software. It looks like I have a lot of reading to do!! My machine does not have an SD card in it. I found a card in one of my cameras and checked and there is an SD port in my laptop that works. I will read about the software to find where to get it from, then buy an SD card and I should be set. I have been busy hooking up my machine and programming it. It is so nice and quiet!! I hope hubby will be thrilled!! Thank you everyone for all of your help and suggestions. If I have any questions or problems with the software I will let you know. Thanks again, you are the BEST!!
