Is this normal

Post by 77Godspeed » Sun Aug 21, 2011 11:20 am

I have used Gas-X for bloating and gas, I pass gas but my stomach is still tight and bloated. I was told this is aerophagia by this forum, but has anyone had the tightens and hard stomach for days?

Thanks

Oh yes. Can't get rid of it. Just another thing to learn to live with I guess. I did discover that my pressure had been somehow raised to about 18, between actual pressure of 16 plus altitude set way high. After I adjusted that back to where it should be, it got a little better, but never really goes away. Had to play with pressure and altitude to get a balance between a therapeutic pressure level and the areophagia.

Don't know what your pressure is, but,try reducing your pressure for a few days.

Yes, I've had that tight, hard, swollen abdomen since starting CPAP. Gas-X doesn't work for me as it isn't really gas, produced by decomposing food, it's just trapped air.

Most of the "anti-gas" meds are actually "anti-foam" agents. They separate the gas from the liquid in your stomach. The don't actually destroy gas. This may help you belch up the gas. Apparently, your reflexes prevent you from belching up foam.

This may or may not help with CPAP gas. If the pressure is inflating your stomach, it will inflate it whether it's foam or gas.

You could try about 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda mixed in a shot or 2 of water to see if that helps. It is a very effective home remedy for gas/upset tummy. Kinda like Alka-seltzer. Do let us know how it works for this.
