Still have the extreme dizziness

Post by emperorsimon » Fri Aug 19, 2011 11:37 am

It's been a week now and I'm still having the extreme dizziness. It's all day long. My nose is so stuffy at night I keep waking up. My nose is fine during the day. The dark circles under my eyes now look like someone has punched me. And the two times I've had dreams this week, they were nightmares.

I called the doctor's office on Wednesday. The woman who answered (receptionist, technician, nurse- don't have a clue) asked me if I felt like I was getting too much air. I am a newby and didn't have any idea how to answer that. She asked if my nose is dried out and decided that since it isn't, I'm not having a pressure problem.

Does the dizziness EVER go away? I really am sleeping less.

I did find out that I have 10 incidents an hour.

Please look at your machine choice in your profile. I think you have chosen the wrong one. The one you have chosen was discontinued prior to the M series machines which came out in 07 I think.

I am thinking that you have the PR System One Remstar Auto. Check my machine link to see if it is like yours.
Humidifier is also PR System One.

Regarding the dizziness....not a common complaint but it is a known complaint. There are tiny passageways connecting the nasal area to the inner ear. The pressure can disturb the inner ear stuff causing the dizziness.
What pressure do you use?
If this persists much longer you need to discuss with the doctor, not an unknown person in the office unless they happen to be person with knowledge like NP or PA.
Do you have the software to see exactly what is going on or are you getting AHI info off the LED screen?

I, too, had dizziness. I switched from the nasal pillows to the full-face mask - and also lowered my pressure. The dizziness went away.

I have a suspicion that the nasal pillows forced too much air up my nose. It's not natural to have that much air pressure flowing up your nose, and maybe we’re just more sensitive to it. I think the full-face mask is more like natural breathing.

I was also surprised to find that the full-face mask is more comfortable than the nasal pillows. So keep an open mind in trying other mask options.

Good luck to you – Dizziness is a big pain; hope it’s gone soon!

Tina
(I also use liners which really help make the mask more comfortable)
