traveling with CPAP

Post by bookwoman47 » Fri Aug 12, 2011 8:47 am

I'll be traveling with my CPAP to Australia next year and I need to find an electricity converter that is compatible with the CPAP. Last year I went to Italy with a new adapter and converter. After I hooked everything up, the converter shut down when I turned the CPAP on. The converter I borrowed from the front desk at the hotel did the same thing. Does anyone know of a converter that won't shut down? Thanks for any help.

What machine do you have, and are you sure you need a voltage converter? Even my really old Resmed S6 would accept worldwide voltage.

Additional Comments: Pressure is 11-14. Old CPAP was a Resmed S6 Lightweight. Also have Profile lite mask. ResScan is actually version 3.14. Now I use Sleepyhead.

You should not have an issue here. The only adapter you need is to convert the plug itself to the country you are in.
Your issue may have come because of a heated humidifier using too much power and thus blowing the converter. I had this issue in the Netherlands. I bought a very expensive converter and it would not carry the power the humidifier needed and blew up on me.
I then just used a plug converter and had no issues the rest of my trip.
These CPAP's today will run on any countries power.
