Hi, I'm New

Post by sykoeve » Mon Jan 23, 2006 9:35 pm

Hi, I found this site while searching for some CPAP info. I am 28 and have been on a CPAP machine since last spring. I had to go for a sleep study twice, the second time I used a CPAP machine. My setting is for 15 and I use an adaptor so I can also use my oxygen concentrator with my CPAP. My oxygen is for 2L/PM. I also have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). I quit smoking last November and can feel a big difference in how I feel with my CPAP, I wake up not feeling soo heavy chested anymore, I can breathe easier also. I really am thankful for my CPAP machine.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here and also reading all the posts already posted.

sykoeve'

I'm 61 and have been on Bipap for the past 4 years. I stopped smoking at that time too, after smoking for 40 yrs. I can assure you, that is one of the best things you can do for yourself and it is also difficult. Now, I can't understand why I waited so long to quit. Using oxygen I guess makes it even better for you quitting. Welcome aboard!!

Hi sykoeve! Welcome! This is a fantastic forum, hope you stick around. I am 27 (or will be Feb 5 ) and have been on CPAP about the smae amount of time as you. I love my CPAP and it has truly been a life saver for me. It scares me to death to think of how I was sleeping (or trying to) without my CPAP. The folks here are awesome and I'm so happy you found us!

Hi skyoeve and welcome to the hosehead forum.
I am 57 and I have been on the CPAP and now APAP since April 2005.

I cannot believe it will soon be a year for me since I started PAPing along.

Hi and welcome....I'm new here too, relatively. Read the posts and ask lots of questions....this is a great group that can share a great deal of personal experience that will be of help; it has been for me.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! After reading some of the posts, I decided to go out and buy some fleece fabric and made myself a tube cozy and strap cozies and I have not had a single rainout since. I picked out a funky tyedye pattern so it would be bright and fun. All my medical equipment sits in my living room and I sleep on the couch (I can breathe and sleep better on the couch).
