Beware Of Acai Berry Scams

Post by kevinbpw75 » Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:11 am

You must have seen acai berry advertisers that claim to offer a free trial and help you lose weight without
paying a single dime. I fell for one of such offers only to find I was being billed hundreds of dollars each
month. When I asked the company why was I being billed, they told me, when taking the Free Trial, I signed
up for a monthly subscription and agreed to pay $109.99 each month for the supply of Acai Berry.

I asked them to cancel straight away. They said they cancelled my subscription and I would not be billed again.

Then came my next credit card statement, I was surprised to see the charges again. I tried to call up the
comapny again. No one answered my call for 2 days. On the 3rd day I was finally able to speak to someone
after being on hold for an hour. I explained my situation to the person, he said he would refund my money and
I would not be billed again.

To date I am yet to get the refund.

Instead of waiting to see more charges on my bill, I decided to cancel my credit card. What a relief!

The end result was after losing $329.97 I was yet to lose a single pound. Some of you might lose few pounds
after paying the bills (Pun Intended).

Most of you might have lost lot of money on different weight loss programs and are still looking for a solution
that will transform you overnight. Believe me , there is no such system available.

So how come you didn't just call your credit card company and dispute the charge? The CC companies have a LOT of power to get things like that resolved.

Any time something pops up on my computer that often, I smell a rodent.

My wife just can't resist an "unbelievable" infomercial!
She got scammed with a free trial offer for a product called "AcaiOptimum" and also "AdvancedColon"
Pretty much the same thing happened to her. These people are absolutely shameless, and have done nothing but lie, repeatedly!. They keep giving excuses, changing phone numbers, not returning calls, not answering emails, etc. They even *promised* to refund her money via a CC gift card. Needless to say, no refund of any kind, was ever issued.

All of these miracle cures that claim that acai or goji berry or pomegranate juice is going to help you lose weight or pretty much anything else are a bunch of crap.

In general, if you think "It's too good to be true!", it almost certain is just that... But I agree. Always take this type of dispute to your credit card company. Over the years, I've had a couple false charges made against my card. I never had problems when I called and said "No!". They just charged the amount back to the company that made the charge.

I run an online store, and I can tell you that if a company is scamming you, you should ALWAYS dispute the charge with the credit card company. Credit card companies do not like "chargeback" disputes, and will refuse to do business with companies that have too many chargebacks and complaints. So by disputing the charges with your credit card company, you are helping to put the scammer out of business.

Acai can help you lose weight... sort of. But you have to be dieting and exercising already, it's not a miracle drug, it just gives your body an extra boost. Furthermore, you have to get real Acai, not fake crap in a pill form. There are other things to go with it as well, I can't remember them all but Goji is one (again, gotta find a reputable dealer), Cinnamon, Chiles, Salmon, Tarragon and more. The problem with most of these is what you eat them with. Yeah, Chiles help alot, until you mix em with tomatoes and cilantro and eat em with good ol fried corn chips, then they are useless. Cinnamon, usually mixed with sugar. Salmon is pretty easy, but I think it has to be wild. For some reason farm raised salmon is missing something, and with wild you gotta worry about mercury. But remember, must find REAL retailers that sell them, and they only give you a boost to lose weight faster, they don't melt the pounds away without work. Sadly, when something that works is found, there are those that take advantage for money.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that they scammed you. Though you are not the only one that this has ever happened too.
You need to act immediately, as if you wait to long you will lose alit of your rights.
First call your credit card company and report it like everyone else has advised!
If you payed with Pay Pal online, contact them ASAP as they have a 30 day or so that you can make a complaint and after that they will not help you.
You could also look at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/consumer.shtm and see if there is anything the FTC can help you with.
Then I usually put the icing on the cake by going to the Better Business Bureau and give them a bad rating.
Usually they are so sick of me by that time, they I get my money back.

I always figured if some company (via infomercial, internet, phone call, snail mail) has to tell me I need something that I did not already know I need ...... then I don't need it at all. This logic has worked well for me.

I'm proud to say I have never bought ANYTHING from some idiotic info-mercial.
Besides, who needs diet pills when we got Slarty's low carb diet. I'm really starting to think he's on to something with THAT diet. I've been on it for 5 days so far.

Check your PM. I sent you a mess of links to ruminate over.

[Edit: And Vader, it ain't no stinkin' diet. It's just changing WHAT you eat, not HOW MUCH you eat. Which is why you don't feel hungry. You can eat until you're satisfied, but so long as you don't eat carbs, the fat isn't "fattening." Now don't get me started!]

Huh??? did you think I was trashing the low carb diet?
Most definitely not, Slarty. If anything I'm very grateful that you and a couple others here got me really motivated to try this diet. So far, so good. I'm positive I'll lose weight. In fact, I already have.
Thanks, Bubba!

Oh (as my Mormon neighbor would say,) my heck no. Neglected to put the smiley face-thingy there 'cause I thought it was obvious I wasn't shouting with my CAPITALIZATION, I was trying to bring emphasis to those particular words*. No harm, no fowl.

*as in: Diets work by restricting HOW MUCH you eat. But you can accomplish the same end by restricting WHAT, not HOW MUCH you eat. Now which would you rather do?
