Monitoring my Therapy

Post by Guest » Thu Aug 04, 2011 7:41 am

A couple of days ago I got a new PR System One Remstar Auto A-Flex machine with humidifier. This is my first machine which is capable of reporting my therapy progress. I would much appreciate the answer to a couple of questions.
1. When I take a bathroom break(s) during the night, which is the better procedure in order that more accurate therapy results are reported? Should I shut off the machine and restart it upon returning to bed or NOT shut the machine down? Which of the choices is best? Could either of these choices result in both a higher AHI 7/30 day average value and also a large leakage percentage number which resulting in inaccurate reported results?
2. Respironics has for purchase user software titled EncoreViewer for PR System One Machinesfor displaying various therapy data. My understanding is that this software will not work on any computer running Windows 7 64 bit. Which is what I have. Is this information correct? If so, is there other software I can use?
Thanks,
Vin

Turn the machine off when getting up to go to bathroom. Leaving it on will register as large leak. It won't mess with AHI averages though.

Encore Pro 2.4 has a 64 bit version. Send me a PM if you want more information about it.

You can use SleepyHead right now though. It works on my Win 7 64 bit computer.

Here is explanation and example of the differences in software reporting options.

If you register then people can pm you (send messages) with help for the software. There are several different packages available from programmers on this site.

I am actually registered, but somehow it came out as "Guest". Sorry about that. I hope this shows my registration in order that any pm can be sent.

It's generally considered a good idea to turn the machine off when you go to the bathroom.

There are two possible problems with doing this.

1) If you have the autoramp function turned on, you'll get low pressure for a while. Don't do autoramp. If you must have ramp, push the button, but try to avoid it.

2) If you're doing auto pressure and the starting pressure is set too low, you'll be back at the low pressure when you turn the machine back on and will have to suffer suboptimal pressure until the machine autos back up to proper pressure.

I think too many people use a low starting pressure and depend on the machine to auto up, but this leaves you with too low pressure at least part of the night, and maybe for a good portion of the night.
