Hi Randy

Between 5.23 and 5.41 approx you did not record your SpO2 level, but did record an amazingly high pulse beat.

My opinion is glitch - forget it and try again.

cheers

Randy:

I have those from time to time. The only times I disregard this type of data is when the event lasts for less than a few seconds. It is common for SpO2 levels to drop dramatically when the heart rate is high ( at least for me ). Have you looked at the .CSV file that the software stores on your computer to see exactly what the values are for the SpO2 data? You can find it in the ProgramFiles folder under SPO2. It will have the date recorded embedded into the file name.

If you do check, the easiest way to view the file is to import it into Microsoft Excel. If you have difficulty looking at the data, PM me and I'll help you sort it out.

You lost signal at the gray mark at 5:20. I block out everything after that until it levels off. It could have been sideways on your finger...
I wouldn't worry about it unless it happened without the break.
Then you need to check the cpap data and see what event cooresponds to that time.

Glitch. Or actually glitches...

It looks like the unit lost signal at a little after 5:20 and then regained the signal a little after 5:40. It then lost signal again just before 5:50 and regained it again at around 5:55. The spikes at roughly 6:00 and 6:02 are also suspicious.

For data analysis purposes, I would suggest you just block that whole time off and ignore it.

If I may offer a different perspective to your perceived mantra...

I and my cardiologist disagree with you. Home pulse oximeters can not be used for diagnosis, but they are very useful for tracking progress.

Home pulse oximeters are the same units used by paramedics. The difference is that in "professional" use, they are checked against known calibration periodically. I have been able to have mine checked, and it is "reasonably" accurate.

You need some education to make sense of the data, and some data does involve dealing with artifacts, but artifacts are also present in EEG and EKG monitoring. It is just one of those things you need to be able to recognize.

Pulse oximeters are a tool that provide more information. With more information you can sometimes figure out what questions to ask.
