How to sell a used ResMed AutoPap?

Post by pjbrownva » Thu Jul 28, 2011 12:39 am

I have been non-compliant with CPAP for a few years. I decided to sell my resmed autopap, and see that cpapauction doesn't let
you list your resmed cpap for sale anymore, and I have heard that ebay also prohibits their listing.

So here's my question.... how do you sell a ResMed autopap that you don't want anymore?

This post isn't a veiled attempt at advertising via this forum. I first searched on the topic and didn't find
any relevant posts, so I honestly am looking for suggestions and information on how to find a market for selling my
lightly used equipment. Any help would be appreciated - not just for me, but also for others who might search the forum in the future.

Sincerely,

-Phil

There will be no official invite to run it here, but if I was selling I would make it clear what I had (model and accessories) and what I'm asking for it.

Someone might like it as a backup machine...tell what it is and how much, etc.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Try second wind dot com and Craigslist. Someone here might want it but we need particulars: Exactly what model? How many hours are on it? What is your asking price. Check similar model prices on Second wind to have some idea of the going price. Hoseheads will not pay what it cost new, as newer models have come out since. If you decide you just want to donate it, please contact AWAKE, who sometimes accepts them..

Thank you for all of the great input!

The suggestions are:
- Post a listing in the forum
- Use Craig's List
- Try Second Wind Dot Com
- Donate it to AWAKE so it can go to someone who needs it

and I also got a PM asking for more info on my unit.

Thank you, everyone for the info.

I have the Resmed S8 Auto CPAP with a heated humidifier *and* the Resmed Data Card Reader with a USB port.
The particulars are:

S8 AutoSet II - Manufactured in 2009 - 43 hrs of use
H4i integrated, Heated Humidifier
USB Data Card Reader

I'm thinking of selling it because I didn't tolerate CPAP well, and the mask that I ended up liking (the Respironics comfort gel) didn't work well with the ResMed equipment... -- for some reason, the data recorder wouldn't recognize any events when I used the Respironics masks ... regardless of the Mask setting that I tried... but it worked fine with the 6 or so ResMed masks that I tried but didn't like. ;-(

So I've ordered a PR System 1 auto to give xPAP another try, and I'm wondering what people think would be a fair price to ask for my current (almost new) S8 system.

P.S. -- This xPAP habit of mine is getting mighty expensive! There *must* be a cheaper way to live a long and health life.

Funny; I get all the data and functionality with my Comfortgel and S9 Autoset.
I just set mask for the closest Resmed mask.

1, I have same unit [2 of them] and works great for me.
2. Fair price range given limited usage $550-$650 plus actual shipping fee [new one would cost $1200].
3. Believe it or not, your card reader is worth it's weight in gold

You could list on CL for $650 and buyers might try to negotiate for discount.
You can list here and be surprised at how pm you'll get!

Good luck

A correction for you: It is http://www.secondwindcpap.com not just secondwind dot com. I am sure you'll have no problem selling it for a reasonable price here, but if for some odd reason you get no takers, do consider donation to an AWAKE chapter or perhaps the Reggie White Foundation so someone who cannot afford equipment at all can receive therapy.
