Question

Post by Guest » Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:29 am

I started using a new mask "Hybrid" is it normal to have high AHI 19, pressure plateau time was 15% at 18. My prescribed pressure is 10 my machine is auto adjust bottom 10 high 18, also leak flow was 5% for 3 hours. Does the leaks make the pressure go up? How long should I try a mask before making some possible adjustments to pressure?
thank you

Some answers will follow, however I highly recommend that you go to your user control panel and complete your equipment profile (in text not icons) since someone familiar with your equipment may be able to give you a more complete answer.

Also, if you can, could you post your report with all your data as that may also be more helpful. Good luck!
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Yes, leaks will make the pressure go up on an auto. 19 AHI is too high, AND the AHI reading is totally unreliable if you are having that degree of leakage--it might be even higher! You must get the leaks under control--you are not getting effective therapy when the pressures cannot be contained. Absolutely do NOT change the pressure until you get the leaks under control--there's no way to determine an appropriate pressure when the leaks are so significant. You have to work with this mask to control the leaks, or find another that doesn't leak for you.

As Ameriken points out, we can help you a lot better when we know what machine and mask you are using.

On the Hybrid the top strap can be loose but the side straps need to be snug....look up Rosters post about taming the hybrid it will give you alot of hints and info.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
