My fist night with CPAP

Post by justbreathe » Fri Jul 15, 2011 3:04 pm

Hi all and thank you for all the help and heads up for what to expect so far. I had my sleep study Jun 14 and titration June 29. My DME called me today and asked if I could set up an appointment with their RT to bring my CPAP next week. I asked if I could come by and get it today and was told I could as long as I was comfortable without talking with RT first. I feel I am ready and did not want to wait.

She asked me if I had a preference of brand and I asked for REsMed S9 Autoset or Elite. She said she could give me the Elite but not the Autoset unless the Dr requested it. I think I will be happy with the Elite as it will give me all the data I want so I went to pick up my CPAP after work on the way home.

I felt great after my night with it at the sleep lab. I hope I do as well at home. I plan to be 100% compliant and have my insurance pay the full price during the forth month so my CPAP is paid off before starting my new fiscal year for BCBS copay starting Dec 1,.

P.S. I am going to take a nap.

Congratulations on a good "fist" night.

I'm glad you got a usable machine, not a brick.

Good luck.

Congrats! I know what you mean about feeling so good after your first night. I had to wait a week for my machine and it was like being allowed just one jelly bean! It's been 2 weeks now and I have not had a single nap. I immediately felt amazing! I feel like I'm seeing my life in color now. This has been the best website to find out all of the little trick and tips. Again, CONGRATS!!!!!
