new hose is too stiff

Post by BRUCEDEVAUXONE » Thu Jul 14, 2011 6:17 pm

I am CPAP Vet 1990
I am one of the lucky ones that adjusted fairly quick. Although I had several weeks ripping my mask off in yhe middle of the night.

WOW when I had to replace my original hose maybe after 10 years, that new hose was and still is the worst. I thought it should limber up, but still too stiff. The original was so soft and flexible. It never tugged on my mask. I am thinking that was a big part of my adjusting to CPAP.

Any one found a good hose like my original?

This one is really flexible: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-hose.php

You might check the auction site, too; may be a bit cheaper there.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

They don;t make'm like they used to..
WOW.. you sure got your moneys worth out of the first one.

The ones that I get from my DME every so often are very stiff. The folds are permanent. I have soaked them in hot water, stretched them out full length for a time and still they retain their folds, just like they come out of the bag.

Have you soaked it in hot water and then drained it and draped it over a door or something to allow it to dry unkinked? Maybe that would work. I've been fortunate - none of mine have been non-pliant. Never had one that stayed "folded". Course I have my humidifier on 5 so that might have something to do with it
I love sleep because it is both pleasant and safe to use. - Fran Lebowitz HA!! Yeah right - not when you're a hosehead!

I use the white Performance hose. It is more flexible than the standard gray hose. Little bit lighter weight also.
