What do you do with all your CPAP stuff during the day?

Post by backdoc » Wed Jul 13, 2011 6:39 pm

I've been on CPAP for 4 1/2 years and have it down to a science.

I have a PR SystemOne APAP with humidifier, Swift Fx, Pad-A-Cheeks, Hose and Hose-Hanger, and the cords....

Here is my hose-hanger, and SystemOne: I left it set-up so you could see the hose hanger.

In the morning I put all the stuff into a wicker box:

And, it goes into a cubby in the closet:

During the day you'd never know I was a hose head!:

Geez, I must be one lazy ass.

I have a little table next to my bed where the machine sits. In the morning, I turn the machine off, take off the mask, and lay the mask on the pillow still connected to the hose and just leave it there until I go to bed, clean it or change the water. Done.

Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I tuck my mask under my pillow and leave my machine on my nightstand. I frankly could care less who likes or dislikes my hosehead status.

I have my machine on a chopping board on the floor and thats where it stays. I have some hooks on my dresser for the mask and chinstrap. The hose just stays where it is tied to the back of the bed. Who goes into your bedroom anyway. Most of my visitors would never even go upstairs.

I don't care if anyone sees my equipment. It stays on the nightstand at all times, with my hose attached to both the machine and my headboard (my own version of a hose hanger), and the mask sits on the pillow.

Just curious, backdoc: Do you put it all away each day because of pets who find the equipment interesting and might do some damage in your absence? Or is it strictly a matter of how it looks?

At home, I just slip the mask and chinstrap off and they sit on the pillow. When I spend the night at my friend's house, I disconnect the tube and put it away with the mask in the travel case so the cat can't be naughty.

Its just about how it looks, we have often have people come by to tour the house, its in a lot of magazines: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/hous ... our-150418

So it just works better to keep everything tidy.

I"ll give you a A+ for house keeping. I would hate to compare my bedroom's neatness with yours.

That certainly doesn't look like my room. In my favor, the mailing boxes have been relocated to the basement. Guess where everything else is.

In the end, the machine, Hose Buddy, and mask will stay where they are on my bed and headboard.

WOW you have a lot of shoes!

I'm a neat freak but I do leave me machine on the nightstand.
In the morning I take out the tank and march the tank, hose and mask to the bathroom.
Dump tank, hang hose in closet and wash mask and leave it on the sink to dry.
I have never had anyone ask about the machine on the nightstand.
I think people thinks it's just a cd player or something.

Did I mention you have a lot of shirts?

Wow, backdoc, if I had such a nice looking place, I'd tuck mine away in a clever storage cube also. But I am just po folks, with everything in my house pretty much jerry rigged. So I leave my machine on my bedside bookshelf, and toss the mask over the machine to keep it from falling on the floor while not in use. I really need to replace the roll of TP next to the machine with one of those fancy boxes of tissues, so I can blow my nose in style.

Yep, I hang my mask on the bedpost, pop the lid on the humidifier, pull the tank out half way, make the bed and leave the room.

No pictures to protect the squeamish (or judgmental)

I don't make my bed every day. I'm certainly not going to put that machine away every day.

Yikes!

I simply allow the rest of my house get so messy that no one notices the CPAP machine, even if they make it across the room without tripping on something.

Same here, except I usually lay the mask down on top of the machine so DW doesn't have to move it when she straightens out the bed later in the day!
