Aromatherapy

Post by sleep<most » Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:59 am

So I have just recently been diagnosed with Sleep apnea recieved a CPAP and am still working out the best fit, how to gauge when I put it on, etc. Someone I work with recommended I look into aromatherapy that is made for humidifiers as she is under the impression that it helps with stress. Just wondering if anyone has heard/tired this and what the pros and cons might be or if it will even work with the cpap.

I don't know anything about using it with a CPAP machine, however I do believe aromatherapy is a legitimate form of stress relief for some people, I know my mom uses it in other forms (candles, oils, etc) and she loves it and finds it to be extremely relaxing (and even in her late 70's she is a very high strung person).

Not everyone likes it or believes in it, but it is definitely something you might want to try.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

it works with xpap... just don't put it in the water!

put it on some kind of pad and put the pad by the intake to your machine.

Lots of people use it. You can purchase or make your own. Just put the oil diffuser next to air intake on the machine.
It is not advised to put the oils directly into machine.

I bought a small vial of scented oil at a local fair. I put a few drops on a paper towel and put the paper towel near the back of my CPAP machine. Works well for just a few pennies.

Well I use carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil which I use in Aromatherapy that provides stress relief and mental improvement. Moreover, I also use Sclerocarya birrea kernel oil which also come in the category of carrier oil .

Those little facial cleaning pads that you can buy wherever make-up is sold work well. I have used those when I don't have any of the Pur-Sleep wafers. They are the prefect size, although are more absorbent than the Pur-Sleep wafers.
