And Canada is a wonderful country to visit! Its clean, the highway's are neat and trash free. I went to quite a few dog shows in Canada in years gone by. The atmosphere was so much more relaxed than US shows, the exhibitors friendly and helpful, the sites cleaner and neater. Gas station, restaurant, motel and store staff were clean, neat, polite and friendly. Border guards were much more polite, friendly and professional than American border guards. Mostly we traveled thru Canada from Port Huron to Montreal and it was always a pleasure and a good trip.

Seven years ago, I was staying at the Lake Louise Alpine Center, enjoying a grand two weeks of research for my writing, and, just incidentally, celebrating my wedding anniversary.

For Canada Day, some of the smaller motels and hostels had chartered a bus, and we rode down to Banff on the bus (saved parking fees and hassles!), and happened to see one of the remaining wolves of the Bow Valley pack. The fire works over the Bow River were gorgeous. I received a pin of the Canadian flag which I still wear on the lapel of my jacket.

Deity willing, I'll be back there about this time in two years, to celebrate by freedom from cancer, and enjoy another anniversary!

Yep, I am proud to be a Canadian, eh?

The parents chose Canada and we are still glad they did.
I chose too, at 16 I was part of the becoming a Canadian ceremony and had to swear allegiance (or whatever).

And from a proud Canadian Maritimer four more reasons to love our country:
1) Hockey
2) Clean ocean-side beaches
3) 4 distinct seasons
4) Snow skiing
