quick humidifier question

Post by snoreking » Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:08 am

I have a Fisher Paykel humidifier that I have not used in years -- maybe a decade. It has an HC300 "permanent" water chamber. There are two tube nipples. One has a valve of some kind in it, the other does not. Now I need the humidifier. I can't find the manual. Does the short tuble go from the cpap to the nipple WITH the valve, or the one without? Any help (or a copy of the user manual) would be greatly appreciated.

I have several of the F&P humidifiers with the permanent 300 chambers. One is a F&P HC 100 and the others are HC 150's. I have never seen a "valve' for one. They came with 2 "connectors" which were suposed to make it easier to remove the hose and keep you from breaking the nipples on the chamber and could be used or not. Most people used the one connector on the hose to the mask side because that is the one you removed the most. The older 300 chamber had a nipple in the center and one on the outside. The machine was suposed to go in the center and thwe mask hose went to the outside. The newer model had both nipples on the outer edge and it did not matter which one went where. If you still need the manual I think I still have one for the HC150 if I can find it ans scan it.

Thanks Jerry.

This HC300 has the two nipples on the top. The valve is at the inside base of one of the nipples, barely visible, and looks a bit like a flapper. The plate on the heater (which I don't plan to use) was the model befor FP added the "ambient" temperature sensor. I found the user manual for the heater, but the manual says nothing about the water chamber except "see the instructions for the humidifier chamber," which, of course, are not in that manual.

If I purposely overfill the water chamber from the nipple without the valve, the water easily comes out of the other nipple with the flapper, which leads me to think it must be there so contral the air going into that nipple, but that is just a guess. I have coured the net, but can't find an answer anywher.

OK, I have 4 of the HC300 chambers, one in the original package. I looked and it has the "Operating Instructions" in nine languages no less. I don't see anything that looks like a valve on any of mine nor do I see anything in the instructions. If you will PM me youe e-mail address I will be glad to send you a copy mof the "Operating Instructions".
