Killed a Facehugger

Post by McSnoresalot » Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:44 am

Planning a weeklong trip w/the family to a big lake – bbq, boating, fishing, tubing, skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding and maybe a few adult beverages.

In preparation, I recently bought a new (to me) CPAP machine off of Craigslist – small Devilbiss machine I planned to use as my travel unit. I have bought masks of this guy, so I was ok with him shipping after a Paypal transacation.

The machine showed up on Tuesday – I opened the box to check it out, and tossed it on the coffee table to deal with later.

Fast forward to last night – daughter #3 is REALLY excited about learning to wakeboard this year like her big sisters. Got her a nice little 134 cm board with flames and pink boots (another Craigslist deal). She had it out in the family room and was messing around with the binding while her sisters looked on telling her she was doing it wrong.

Naturally, I came to the defense of number #3 against her “meany” big sisters and told her she was doing it just fine and challenged #1 to put up or shut up with her “big talk” Next thing I know, Daughter #1 has her board strapped on and I have my big 144 cm CWB board on and we’re both trying to out do each other jumping and clearing 180 degrees (no problem) and trying for a 360 (no way).

For a visual – I’m 6’ and go about 190, Daughter #1 is 5’3” and goes about 115 – we are both jumping up and down with wakeboards strapped on in the family room and I got a little off my line and clipped the coffee table coming down. That launched EVERYTHING on the table – the Cpap machine smashed into the fireplace and exploded – even worse, one of Wifeys candy bowls shattered into shrapnel on impact with the slider door jam.

I KNEW this was going to be trouble – all three girls were staring at me with their eyes wide open AND we could here footsteps coming from upstairs – uh oh, WIFEY!!! And her stride sounded like she knew something was up……crap!

I got out of my board really quick and slid it under the couch – Daugher #1 did likewise and hid hers behind the recliner. We all quickly sat down and watched the tv like nothing happened. Wifey rounds the corner and starts giving us the eye (she hadn’t spotted the debris field yet) - She zero’s in on Daughter #2 (who can’t keep a secret) and then spots the broken glass….crap!

I immediatley started yelling at Dog – (poor guy was minding his own business on his rug by the kitchen – hey, that’s the way it goes, sometimes you got to take one for the team buddy) – tried to blame him for the incident. It might have worked but Daughter #3 started giggling which got them all going and then #1 was mad at me for trying to make Dog the fall guy.

Long story short – the Cpap machine won’t even turn on, most of the housing is all broken, think it is garbage, I have been instructed to replace the candy dish AND wakeboards are no longer allowed in the house.

Did molecular acid spill out and eat a hole in the floor?

No wakeboarding in the house? Gee, she sounds like no fun at all.

I wonder how often the insurance company gets claims for CPAP equipment damaged in wakeboarding accidents.
