Resmed S9 filters
Resmed S9 filters
Does anyone know where I can get a large quantity of original S9 filters? I know I can get those from cpap.com or amazon but just wanted to know if there is a place where they give you a huge discount on a large quantity. Any help would be great. Thank you.
Re: Resmed S9 filters
Haven't seen any others with larger amounts than Ebay or Amazon sellers offer.

Re: Resmed S9 filters
I just looked at Amazon and they sell 12 filters for $20 (and change). Cpap.com sells 6 filters for $13 (and change).

There's nothing special about them. You could just use a couple layers of coffee filter, or cut up a piece of furnace filter paper. Looking directly through the filter, you can see holes that are quite large. The standard filter is only capable of retaining particulates like lint, cat hair, etc.

"There's nothing special about them"
Except that they are designed to do specific job, just like coffee papers are designed to filter coffee, not air going into a CPAP device.
Just remember, the filters are there to protect the device. If you don't use the correct filters, your CPAP machine may not last as long as it should and you could lose any savings you make by having to buy a replacement machine.

What a wonderfully horrible idea.

Re: Resmed S9 filters
Given that different brands of machines have different style filters, I think Slartybartfast is on the right track. I don't think what's used as a filter matters too awfully much as long as:
1. it's not so flimsy that it gets sucked into the machine
2. doesn't have fibers that are loose enough to get sucked into the machine
3. does the job of catching "the big stuff" (like the lint and cat hair Slarty mentioned) as well as large dust particles
4. allows room air to be sucked in as easily as does the standard filter made for the machine
The cost of the manufacturer's filters is ridiculously high, imho.
I don't use the ultrafine filters...just the standard ones. Standard foam ones used by some of the manufacturers can be washed over and over again. If treated gently during washing (squeeze lightly, don't rub 'em) they can last a long, long, long time. Years, in fact.

Re: Resmed S9 filters
You can get exactly the same filters from the local pet shop ,look for replacement fish tank filter sheets you may get about 30 out of a pack for acouple of dollars
Have a look, same thickness ,same coulour, hold up to the light exactly the same fibres .
The filters are only there to keep the large particles out.
