Foggy Brain Alll Morning/Decreases in the Afternoon

Post by mikeandtina59 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:01 pm

Has anyone else had this experience?

I wake up in the morning and feel very fuzzy mentally then is starts to clear up in the afternoon. This has been going on for six years. Have others with sleep apnea experience this symptom? It seems strange to feel so fuzzy in the morning but better in the afternoon. There is even a slight tingling on my scalp or brain!

Does this sounds like a symptom of sleep apnea? Does this sounds like any other disorder? Anyone have any ideas to help? I am on my third week of CPAP so hoping to see some improvement soon.

I've just come across a term called "Fuzzy Brain Syndrome." Pretty funny name but sounds appropriate! Anybody familair with it..?

Thanks!

yes and sometimes GRD and panic attack in mornings. I have lost jobs, and still have trouble working in the mornings.

end up being a night owl have good mental performance late at night.

cpap helped the sever part, but still foggy mornings. Feel best when AHI is under 1 and leaks not to bad, I had to raise my preesure alot higher than tritration. Being a bad mouth breather I not sure if I am getting full benifit of CPAP

@mikeandtina..... It would help greatly if you would properly register and log in when you post. Your name is showing up black which indicates you have not logged in or registered properly. Once registered, you will have full access to the features of this forum. You can also then go up to the User Control Panel (top left under search) and then to your Profile--->Edit Equipment and choose your gear from the pull down menus. After that, choose to show them in TEXT not pictures. This puts your equipment at the bottom of each post like mine below. It help you get the help you need from those who have the same machine, mask, software.....

Once you have registered properly, your name will appear in blue and be clickable. Thanks!!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

yes, this is why I finally took serious steps to get diagnosed. I believe it is caused by significant hypoxia. After being awake for a few hours your brain has been treated to normal oxygen levels and comes back to life.

This got worse for me on CPAP, especially when I sleep a really good night of 8 or 9 hours. Pre-CPAP I usually (not always) woke up with tons of energy that took a huge drop a few hours later and never recovered til the next morning. Now I wake up groggy and it lasts a few hours or more then I start waking up by late morning or early afternoon. I believe there is a name for this..sleep inertia or something like that? I get the idea it's not abnormal, most people experience it, some longer and more intensely than others.

hypoxia sounds good. But I bought a O2 meter and found i hardly desat. to 90. without cpap I would only desat to maybe 87.

I think your fight or flight response can get over active from years of no treatment. And will not settle down. You wake after all this fight or flight stress and feel beat up. I think in my case just a few apneas bring this out,

Other comments welcomed, but I don't think anything in a sleep lab measures this stress level.

search for Dr Park sleep disorders. he has some articles on these systemic problems

Well, it measures your heart rate.
