Cpap Set up? A-Flex vs C-Flex vs Cpap?

Post by Peter62 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:07 am

Hi,
I have been using my cpap for a couples of month, but my AHI does not go below 4. I tried to increase the min pressure from 7.5 to 11.5 with very few results.
My last night numbers are:
large leak: 0%
AHI: 4.7, avg 30 days 4.4
Periodic breathing: 2%
90% pressure: 11

My Cpap set up is:
Mode: Auto
Auto max: 20
Auto Mini 11
flex type: A-Flex
A-Flex: 2
Tubing type lock: on
Tubing type: 22
System one resistance: 0
Lock system one: off

Cpap/AFlex/C-Flex/Resistance.....I have no idea what to choose.
Any Advice?
Thanx
Peter

The data you get from the screen is not enough data to determine what you need to do. You need to look at detailed data to see the breakdown of types of ahi (OA, CA, Hypopneas) and what is really going on leakwise.

Fortunately, there are 2 free options available here on the forum-- Onkor and sleepyhead. So learn to use one and post some printouts of typical nights and then we can help you based on data, not the magic crystal ball none of us possess.

Have you talked to your doctor or the DME about your problems? What have they said?

The things that you are asking about in the post title are fairly basic, and you should have a good understanding of them before you start changing settings.

Right now you are running your machine in auto mode, where it changes the pressure throughout the night based on your needs. When you are running in auto mode, you have the option to turn on the A-flex, which drops the pressure a bit when you exhale. You can also turn off the A-flex, and have a more constant pressure with exhalation.

You can also run the machine in CPAP mode, where there is no change in pressure during the night. The machine delivers one constant pressure. When you run the machine in CPAP mode, you have the option to turn on the C-flex, which drops the pressure when you exhale.
