exhaust disturbing my spouse

Post by joethenewbie » Thu Jun 02, 2011 12:49 pm

Last night was my first full night on a ResMed APAP with a pressure setting range of 12-20. Apparenlty this is enough to create quite an exhaust. Because of our respective sleeping positions my wife found herself getting blown in the face with the exhaust.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

I only sleep facing that way if hubby is still up.

Yes, and hubby and I swapped sides so now we face away from each other. Yes, it took some getting used to, but if you're both prepared to go through that adjustment period, you'll be used to it in no time.

Occasionally when I do sleep on my other side and the exhaust is disturbing DH, he just puts a very small neck pillow between us to block it.

Cheers,
xena

Some masks have a diverter to blow the exhaust in a different direction. That might be an option for you.

I don't have a hubby but I've heard that someone here puts a third pillow on its edge between his and her pillows, thus deflecting the air away from the partner.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

One of the pitfalls of using a CPAP....Kiss your wife goodnight and turn in the other direction. The mask needs to exhaust the CO2 or you would be re breathing it.

I don't have a wife, but the first night the exhaust blew on my dog... she laid there with her ears down looking very annoyed. Since then I have had the bed to myself!

That would be me! I posted on that not too long ago, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

We usually watch TV, etc. for a while. I use the third pillow to prop up my head. When it's time to mask up, I place between us, on edge, propped up by our pillows. If I get too close, I can hear the air blowing against the barrier and move my head to minimize it. It allows me to face either direction, switching throughout the night.
