Snoring but AHI ~ 1

Post by Dannzzigg » Tue May 31, 2011 7:49 pm

I don't have the data in front of me, but after viewing my last few nights sleep, it appears I have been having a significant number of Vibratory Snore events over the last several nights. I have my usual AHI numbers, which hang around 1.0 - 1.5 or so.

Any ideas as to why I am now snoring more than I used to? Any suggestions on what to do about it? It's been quite disturbing to my wife (who is already a little disturbed ) and last night I camped out on the couch to let her get a decent night's sleep.

Aside from not geting enough time to sleep, I feel like it's been quality sleep - at least for me. My wife doesn't feel the same way though.

I am having this same sort of issue...so, your wife can confirm that the "Vibratory Snores" are true snoring, and not other noises being picked up by the machine?

I didn't know that was a possibility (new to the whole data interpretation side of xPAP), but I started looking for the snoring data when she reported a few mornings ago that I "kept her up all night" with my snoring. I have been known to talk/moan in my sleep, so I wonder if that is where some of it is coming from...

So... the machine actually bases it's report of Vibratory snores on actual audio detection? I never really thought about how it "knew" but that just seems strange to me. What else is it listening to?

A few other things that may or may not be relevant... I'm on BiPap 18/14, using a Mirage Quattro that is probably on too tight, but it doesn't leak now at all. I'd rather a few marks on my face in the morning than tolerate even the slightest of leaks.

If you're not already doing it.........try nasal cleansing before bedtime. Make sure your nasal passages are clear.

If your humidifier setting is higher, try turning it way down or Off........a higher humidifier setting can cause more nasal congestion.

Well, to be honest, I don't know what the hell it bases it on! I have a HUGE amount of "Vibratory Snores" on my reports, but some occur even when I know I am wake. Some have said various things can trigger a "vibratory snore" event, such as coughing, moving your mask around, humming ( ), etc.
