it is NOT a fully datacapable machine. Does not show AHI or Leaks.

The Resmed Escape will not give you any information other than hours used. You need the Resmed Elite or Auto versions to get useful information.

The Resmed "Escape" machines have no data available except compliance data, so they don't give you any way to monitor your own AHI, leaks, etc. Instead, the "Elite" or "Autoset" machines from Resmed are a better choice because they offer full data capabilities... the S8 is their old line of machines, the S9s are the current models.

An S8 Elite II would be data capable and is a excellent machine.
The S8 series is still a current model on the Resmed web site.

It is a good machine as far as therapy goes. It would make a good back up machine. If you are just starting cpap therapy and wanting access to data to follow therapy (leaks, events, etc) it won't help you in that regard. It is a discontinued model. No longer produced or sold. The next model is the S9 series of machines.

If insurance is paying, they pay the same for an older model as for the newest model.
If you are paying, make sure the price is in line with age, hours of use, condition, etc.
Is this a used machine? they do not make it any more.
