Window of correct pressure?

Post by Kotengu » Sun May 29, 2011 9:00 am

Is there typically a pretty small correct window of pressure for most people? I have been adjusting my Cpap myself for a while now with no results and I'm wondering if there is a "sweet spot" or something. I'm sure it's different for everybody but I figured I would ask anyway. Also, how much should I increase my pressure by each time I do it?
I should be doing a Titration soon so hopefully that will clear this all up for me.

The titration will determine your "sweet spot" (average).

Certainly there is a window. Many things will vary your results, such as leaks, leaks must be minimized to even consider the results as valid. Sleep position can and mask can also influence results.

It takes the body time to get used to the pressure (or changes) so change slowly and make small changes when you get close, such as .5-1 cm changes. Much has been posted about how to do a self or home titration. Use the "Advanced Search" at the top of each forum page.

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Not only does it take time for your body to adjust (as Gumby said), but there will still be night-to-night variations. You'll be looking at trends, not nightly changes.

Good therapy happens AT night...but not overnight!

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...
