I haven't had mine but two weeks and it is amazing. I listen to books on my comute to work. The text to speech computer voice is funny. Try listening to a Mark Twain book in a computer voice!

My grandchildren love to read and play word games on Kindle.

So far, I haven't paid for a book. There are nearly 2 million free books out there that I haven't read yet.

And later this year they expect to link up with libraries across the country, so you can check out any book the library has.

I often use text-to-speech (TTS) too. I started out with the male voice, but now I find the female voice more pleasing. Some of the pronunciations are humorous, but I think it does an excellent job.

Thank you for all of those links! I'm still a newbie and haven't listened to the female voice, yet. I got a little gadget that connects to the Kindle and plugs into my cigarette lighter so the Kindle plays through the car stereo. It's hard to get out of the car when I arrive at work because I want to finish my book.

Okay all you Kindle lovers....talk me into one!

Especially, why would I want a Kindle if I can just get a Kindle app on my iPhone, iPad, or other tablet(I think)?
And how is a Kindle so much better than other e-readers?

That is, if you don't mind this thread going a little off topic

Cheaper and why I use one is I can adjust the font to something I can actually see. Can't read regular books anymore. Looking forward to being able to use my Kindle at the library

To start....

(1) E-ink is easy to read
(2) Non-glare screen
(3) Text-to-speech

I chose the Kindle because:

Amazon really stands behind the product if you should have any issues.

There is no delivery fee for Kindle books

Very easy to order books and download instantly

Super NO GLARE screen-no eye fatigue

Any Kindle book purchase can also be transfered to your computer, or iPhone, etc., at no extra charge

You can usually sample a book before buying, by downloading a few free chapters.

Lots of FREE books available
