My journey to sleep apnoea began about a year ago. I first started with the PR system one APAP machine. I really liked that machine. My AHI never got below about 5 or 6 with that machine but I was feeling great.
Then I had to switch to a different machine for a while - not sure what it was (having a mind blank) but it was an older RemStar machine I think. Still and Auto. Still loved it but it didnt have any user information so i've no idea what my AHI was like on that machine.
Yesterday I FINALLY got my permanant machine - a PR system one Pro CPAP. I was nervous swapping from APAP to CPAP.
When I put it on last night I didnt think I could possibly get to sleep with the ramp going up so fast. My ramp starts at 6 and my set pressure is 18. Somehow I fell asleep.
I woke about 1am WIDE AWAKE - ready to go. LOL. I somehow again managed to get back to sleep. Woke again at 6am (normal time) and got up. Looked at display screen and my AHI last night was..... 0.9 !!!! WOOHOOO Maybe I like this CPAP thing after all
switched to CPAP last night after being on APAP.
Re: switched to CPAP last night after being on APAP.
Have you tried starting your ramp a little higher, like 10 or 12? I had to leave my ramp off, very early on, as I never got to sleep before the ramp was done and the pressure changes were too distracting.

Re: switched to CPAP last night after being on APAP.
Give it a few nights before celebrating TOO much. Make sure is isn't a one-night fluke.
That being said, several of us here do better on CPAP. Even tho I have an Auto machine, I run it in CPAP most of the time, with a week on APAP about every 6 months just to be sure nothing has changed.
But I hope you've found a way to reduce your numbers even lower!

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Boosmum,
Check the screen again now that it's afternoon--it updates at noon GMT.
In addition remember the screen reports only AVERAGES. So your AHI is good for one night, but it will not be exact after more days of use.
You need the software or to use Onkor online to really know what your AHI and leak rates are.

Re: switched to CPAP last night after being on APAP.
I do better on CPAP than APAP. We are wired a little different. With all the gagets we can by, we still can't monitor "Spontaneous Arousals". So you have to do what seems to work for you.
