Newbie S9 User

Post by mart9012 » Sun May 22, 2011 2:14 pm

Hi all,

I just upgraded from a Resmed S6 Lite to a S9 Escape with H5i. I'm not sure whether this machine is set up with the optimum settings for me regarding pressure etc.. and I was wondering if this machine automatically records data that I can use? I have no idea what my AHI is or any of the features of this machine not mentioned in the basic end users manual.

Can anyone advise me on this machine?

The S9 Escape is a compliance only machine. If you can, go back to where you got it and insist on an S9 Elite or S9 Autoset. Those two are the ones that a fully data capable.

Since both of those are both basic fixed pressure with no data CPAP machines, and an S6 would be pretty much at the end of its commercial life by now, I'm guessing that a local NHS facility has provided the S9 Escape as a replacement.

It doesn't provide any data beyond hours used. It will provide pretty much exactly the same treatment as your S6 did, albeit in a much smaller and quieter package. If you think it is not treating your OSA adequately, you may be able to ask the NHS for a new sleep study.

Cheers,

Bill
