Does anyone NOT use a humidifier with their machine?
Does anyone NOT use a humidifier with their machine?
Just wondering, since they are separate things. Who here doesn't use one with their xPAP.
Re: Does anyone NOT use a humidifier with their machine?
I don't use a humidifier. Been doing xPAP a long time and never used one.
It was a decision made purely on not wanting the extra maintenance.
I use a FFM, but I think it would be an issue if I used pillows.
Being is SoCal our winters are not cold, but there are times when it gets dry and the low humidity is a little tough on the nose.

I stopped using my humidifier in order to avoid the maintenance and to regain space on my nightstand. I do not notice a significant difference with my nasal pillows. FWIW, I use Flonase nasal spray shortly before bedtime for allergies.

I haven't used one for 2 years, it still in the unit, just no water added. It acts as a muffler sort of. Jim I still do this just incase I need it.

I don't use it except when I have a cold and need the humidity to keep my airways open as well as the 'breeze'.

stage 4 kidney disease caused from long term use of ibuprofen!!, diabetic ,asmatic and severe sleep apnea love my cpap wouldn't go to bed without it
Re: Does anyone NOT use a humidifier with their machine?
My doctor told me to use it after I told him I get thirsty but he misunderstood. I hydrate at night. I have since learned how to drink with the mask on. I found moving from Aridzona to Northern California that the increased humidity in the air is enough for my comfort. I use a nasal steroid for allergies. When I had a cold the pressure from the CPAP machine kept my airway open.

I only use it in the winter months when it is drier in the house. Never use it in the Spring or summer months.

What Goofproof said. Mainly for noise suppression.

Never used one for the seven years I was using my Resmed S6 and a full face mask. With the new S9 I'm finding that I wake up very dehydrated in my mouth so am using the supplied H5i. Dunno if it's making much of a difference though.

I live in Finland. The air is quite dry here for me even in summer. Maybe because I didn't grow up here, so I'm not adapted to the humidity.
I always use humidifier and heated in winter.

I had been running mine in passover mode for a month or so and finally disconnected it completely (to free up space) about 2 weeks ago. I have not noticed a difference. That may change when I turn on the AC.

Have one.....
Might have used it once (literally) in the beginning, in passover mode.
I have connected it (empty and off) if I am in a situation where rainout is happening.....so the rainout doesn't have the chance to run *down* the hose and *into* the machine.
Honestly don't have that happen much; I like cool temps when sleeping, so the temp contrast is not as great as most peeps.
Would buy one again whenever I am getting another machine.....never know when I might need or want one for better therapy (and of course the rainout going into the machine issue/fear.)
So, yes, I am of the "am not using humidifier for humidity" group.
