Hi Everyone
I have been on CPAP machine for 9 months now , thanks for all the support I had from this website ,I dont think I would have made it on my own.
I learnt in this forum that I can survive through this process of using a machine to sleep and make it , I have used the S9 machine every night , all the time , 100% of my sleep time . Currently I find that I am sleeping more and more and more (my AHI has been below .5 every night), I think I can sleep for 12 hours straight now , Is that normal ? or I am paying off sleep debt ; or some time in future I can expect to get back to a normal sleep pattern ?
Thnx for your respone
When is sleep debt paid off ?

Well, it isn't ABNORMAL. If you feel better on those days you sleep that long, then it is doing you some good. I will occasionally have a day where I sleep abnormally long. But I always feel noticeably more rested.
If it took you a while to get your leaks and numbers under control, then 9 months is not unreasonable. And everyone is different. As long as your symptoms are subsiding, who cares how long it takes... congrats!!

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.

Re: When is sleep debt paid off ?
I started cpap therapy 9 months ago also. I will never forget the feeling I awoke about the third day of starting cpap. I was still struggling with getting used to the equipment and trying to sleep, but I awoke, sat up in bed and said wow!!! This is how it feels to SLEEP. I was sooo refreshed! I'll never forget that feeling! I've never felt that good (that high...) since, but I feel so much better now. I think it may take a lot longer to pay back my body. I tell young folks that do crazy things... little sleep, running around... just being young.... "your body will forgive, but not forget". I feel my body has not forgot the years of lack of good sleep. I feel every morning getting up that I have done some good and paid back that debt, but I have a way to go. It will take awhile and people are different. I look at not repaying my body for the lack of sleep, but repairing my body for the DAMAGE the lack of sleep caused. Who knows? I may never fully repair the damage, but I feel in the long run, I have probably added 2-3 years to my life span.
