newly diagnosed
I've been using my CPAP for 3 nights and don't feel any different. I still feel exhausted and want to daytime sleep. Please tell me that it may just take a little while!

Re: newly diagnosed
Did someone give you expectations that this therapy was like flipping on a light switch? Well, it's NOT.khoward wrote:I've been using my CPAP for 3 nights and don't feel any different. I still feel exhausted and want to daytime sleep. Please tell me that it may just take a little while!
Even when everything is properly fine-tuned (correct pressure determined, leaks under control, no mouth-leaking, etc., etc.) it can take many MONTHS to start feeling some sort of "recovery".
It depends on how long you've had it, the severity of it, the amount of sleep debt you have to pay off and any other medical issues you may have.

Ok, It may just take a little while.
I suggest you register and list your equipment in TEXT so members can offer you suggestions.
When I first started I wanted to nap in the afternoon too. So I did, with the machine. Don't sleep without it. The desire for the naps subsided within a week.

Re: newly diagnosed
While some people do report immediate improvement, it takes much longer for others. In the meantime, do you have the software to monitor your treatment?khoward wrote:I've been using my CPAP for 3 nights and don't feel any different. I still feel exhausted and want to daytime sleep. Re: newly diagnosed
Give it some time. Even though you may not feel a big difference right away, rest assured that your body is feeling it. Remember, too, that it may take a week or more to get used to sleeping with a mask on. That alone will make sleeping feel different for you -- and, thus, may explain why you're not seeing an immediate pop. Stick with it -- you will assuredly see a difference soon.
Re: newly diagnosed
khoward, after three days you've barely gotten started. I takes many of us weeks or months to feel better. If you take a nap, as was suggested, be sure to use your machine. If you've gotten off to a good start- few leaks, good numbers, using the machine all night every night hopefully you'll be one of those who start feeling better sooner than later. As also was suggested if you fill out your profile (text, not pictures) that will help us help you. Do you have a data capable machine and do you know how to check your leak, AI and AHI ever morning? AHI should be under 5. These numbers show how effective your therapy is right now.
Good luck, hang it there- it's worth every night to start feeling better.
