CPAP + AVR UPS; good idea?

Post by AshG » Wed May 04, 2011 6:38 am

I've been thinking since the failure of my 2nd CPAP that maybe I'm not doing enough to protect my equipment. I keep it connected to a high-end serial style surge brick, but given that we have more brownouts than spikes such a setup might be a moot point.

I've been looking at buying a line interactive UPS to slide under the bed along with my CPAP. Line Interactive / AVR UPS systems run off the battery continually so no brownouts are passed along to the attached devices.

What does the group say? Am I throwing money away, or could this be a good idea?

Hi, Ash, and welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but I have no advice for you on this, as these kinds of discussions go over my head. Nevertheless, my response will bump the thread back up to the top of the page; hopefully, someone who can help will happen along and respond.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Not having any specs on this UPS I will say it can't (or shouldn't) hurt. Have you considered simply running it off a battery? There are several discussions on here about batteries. A battery would last longer (than a UPS) during a power outage and may save you some money.

Good Luck
