12 Years on Bi-Pap with Wrong Settings
Update: 26 April 2011 14:30 PST
Ok let me see if I got this right....
Had 4 sleep studies from 2000 - 2004 (one was a SNAP study at home)
Pressures were 18/14(12) for all
Multiple recommendations for 'chin strap'
Chin Strap was always 'FAIL' due to Mouth Tornado Breather
Discovered Poligrip Strip Tape Solution Spring 2010
Did not adjust pressures after Tape Solution implemented
M Series Dies December 2010
Old Machine used with horrific results until new Machine purchased last week April 2011
Old pressures used 18/14 with an AHI of over 9
Last night got an AHI in the 3's with 'AUTO' on new PR System One Bipap Auto
My conclusion ? All 3 studies titrated me with a mouth tornado. They were bullshit. Last night was probably the closest I've had in 45 years of decent sleep with an AHI over 3...really looking forward to <1 - if you have a minute and you are familiar with the PR System One Bipap Auto take a look at last nights data just below this paragraph. Thanks.
Update: 26 APRIL 2011 Noon PST
Big Thanks first of all to Pugsy & builta - YOU GUYS(GALS?) ROCK
With your recommendations and help I can view my data and I've gone from a 9 to a 3.5 in one night just using Auto.
Pressing on....here is the first night's data on Auto

Found a buddy with Encore 2.4 Working - here is the data:

any recommendations greatly appreciated....
Update: 25APRIL2011
Got another night's data up, forget the screenshots, here is a direct link to Onkor.
I obviously need to purchase the Encore Smart Card Reader to read this data directly from the EncoreViewer Software, $40 on the cpap auction site.
Until then here is the onkor data and I'll try to get my DME to fix this box with the internal battery - thanks for the recommendations in this thread.

Per suggestion posting settings:
Firmware 1.24
History: 45 Yr Old Male - Apnea since age 7 - Diagnosed in 2001 - 3 Sleep Studies show titration at 18cm/12cm on Bipap
Used an M Series from 2007-2010 but the machine never worked right in regards to saving data to a card. Finally bought new Respironics BiPap Auto System One yesterday (cheers )
I'm very computer literate so I won't need a ton of hand holding. A few things I can't figure out though.
I got the Encore Viewer 2.0 Software running under Virtual Box in XP - however the software doesn't 'see' any data. I'm guessing it is looking for a smart card reader. I don't even see a default folder to copy data to.
I went online and uploaded data to ONKOR. I get a data file error however. After waiting for 10 seconds or so looking at the data with Internet Explorer 9 (x64) I do get a screen that I can see.
http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa3 ... 11data.jpg
Therapy hours only report as 4:36 - but I slept for 8 hours. AHI is 9.1 - so obviously that is too high and I need some tweaking. All my sleep studies were done between 2000 and 2004. In retrospect I was a mouth tornado and only discovered this website (moron) and poli-grip strips a few months ago. I'm getting a ZEO next week, made major mask modifications, figured out I have DSPS from decades of destroying my Circadian Rythm clock, and am working on Hygiene and getting good data on a nightly basis to kick all my sleep problems in the nutsack.
I'll post the sleep studies if someone wants to see them, again the last one was in 2004. My original SNAP study showed an RDI of 64. I never considered surgery because with my high RDI I think even the Stanford docs would agree I would still need to be on Bi-Pap, but I'm open to anything at this point.
Thanks to anyone in advance who wants to look at this first nights data, which I suspect is probably garbage. I really can't tell if the machine is set up properly yet and the Respitory Therapist doesn't answer calls on the weekend.

how about posting your settings?

Re: Update to My Data Posted Per Suggestions Here They ARe
the 4 hours thing... you're looking at a 7 day average field... and sometimes their math is a little funky.
your blower hours are 8+... i'm guessing that the machine had 0 hours on it when you got it? If not it could have stopped mid night.
Only suggestion that I'd make (I'm sure somebody will disagree but I'm making it anyways!) I'd turn the auto-off to off. Yes this means that you'll have to actually turn the machine off when you take your mask off... but it'll stop it from stopping when you have a major mask leak.
as for your AHI... give it a couple of days to see if it'll come down any... if not then consider tweaking.

Something is wrong with the settings on Onkor.
It says you went to sleep on Apr 22, 2011 and woke up in the October, 2100!
And all the times are 9:00.
Every time you turn the machine off and on again, it starts a new record; maybe you turned it off and on again within one minute?
Try again. Be sure you upload the most recent night, the 001, 002, and 005 files with the highest number.

Re: Update to My Data Posted Per Suggestions Here They ARe
Hi,
Had the same thing happen to me. Took it in and DME got a new replacement. I think that the little lithium battery on the Blower's mother board is dead. Took me about a week to get the replacement.
Call your DME. They need to send it in for service. Your unit is less the 2 years old (all PR System 1 blowers are less then 2 years old as they were only released in USA in October 2009). Good news is that Respironics replaces defective units (within warranty) with new ones (you know the new version the one with the back light.) Call your DME and get them working on it.
Cheers
P.S.: FYI at this time, the "Onkor" internet site does not currently actually fully support PR System 1 BiPAP Auto Data. It is designed for PR System 1 APAP. That doesn't impact the date issues but the graphs don't handle all the data from the BiPAP Auto.

If you have software loaded in an XP Virtual Machine and you cannot find/read from the USB drive to get the data from the SD card then click on the USB tab on at the top of the virtual machine window and "attach" the USB devices (shared devices don't read on my computer but attached devices do.)
That should let you download the data.
Cheers

Could you explain further? Obviously, Onkor doesn't display the pressures, but what else is missing?builta wrote:

Re: Update to My Data Posted Per Suggestions Here They ARe
I sent Mike a month's worth of data. I haven't received any feedback as of yet. The major problem was the lack of pressure data (I think that it only displays EPAP data - but maybe it's only IPAP cannot remember, also there were some event types missing.) Went to look again but now there is a new issue.M.D.Hosehead wrote:Could you explain further? Obviously, Onkor doesn't display the pressures, but what else is missing?builta wrote:

I upgrade to MS Internet Explorer 9.0 and now the site will not display graphs and has a tendency to issue an error dialog box. I can upload 001, 002 & 005 files to the site, but I am not able to see the graphs and sometimes I get "An error has occurred while reading datafile.parseerror" dialog box. This seems to be a new thing that has happened since I went to IE9.
BTW, I tried using the "site" example data sets and I am getting the same errors and lack of graphs. So, I don't thik that it is my data. FYI, My data reads and runs well in Encore Pro.
I could view things under IE 8 but, as there were some issues, I have Encore Pro and I sent Mike the files, I've just been waiting and not visiting the Onkor site http://www.onkor.net in the last week or so.
Cheers.

Playing around with attaching the USB devices...so far lots of failures. I haven't completely updated that Virtual Box installation yet, also will try the same thing on Microsoft Virtual PC. Just to be clear, I am just using the SD card reader built into my Lenovo X200 Tablet running Win 7 (x64) (think it is a Ricoh reader).

I think that you will find that you will have to launch virtual machine (don't try to run it as a program call associated with Encore Pro.) Running Encore Pro with a "call for the virtual machine environment will not allow you to attach the USB drives so, ultimately it will not see them and you will not do what you need to do.
Instead launch virtual machine first, attach the USB devices and then launch Encore Pro and I that is what works for me.
1. By this is mean launch the virtual machine (windows XP Mode).
2. When it finishes loading "click" on the USB tab Top of the screen second tab from the left.
3. After you click it it will tell your "USB Storage" "Shared". Click on the word "USB Storage" or "Shared".
4. This will bring up another dialog box asking if "you are sure" that you want to attach a USB Shared devise as it will disconnect it blah blah blah. Click "Yes".
5. You may have to wait for a minute the first time that you do this as now XP sees the USB devices and will load the drivers.
6. Launch Encore Pro and you should be able to find and download from USB drives or the Smart Card USB.
Cheers

Re: 12 Years on Bi-Pap with Wrong Settings
Rosie,
A couple of points to make... be sure you shut your machine off before you take your mask off... need to keep yourself out of large leak status.
You'll also need to closely watch your CA's and PB's. Right now the CA's are looking a little high (this is my opinion only). BUT you've only been at this a few days. If they were to remain that high... I'd suggest you talk to your sleep doc, for now I'm wondering if it isn't just a phase of getting used to the machine. Do you know if you had central's on your PSG? Would be good to know if you did and at what pressure. If you did... you need to stay away from that pressure... provided that they were pressure induced.
