Can someone tell me how to post my nightly reports from the SmartLink software to this thread to help with optimization?

You will need to capture or convert the report as an image...jpeg file. Upload that to a photosharing site like Flickr, Picasa, or Photobucket in a private album. Once there, you can grab the image's location url and post that here in a post, highlight the url and then click IMG button in the editing bar above the post box. Click Preview to be sure it is showing, and then if OK, click Submit.

The first thing you need is the ability to create an image of the relevant section of a report. I do that with screen-capture software, saving the image as a .jpg file. Others can chime in if they do it a different way.

The second thing you need is a location on the web to put the image that you want to share. I use my MobileMe storage. Others will use Flickr or one of the many other sites. If you do not have one already, you will probably need to create an account on the picture sharing web site and then, certainly, follow the instructions to upload the picture. If you want the image to remain visible in your message, you may need to pay for an account that will allow more than temporary, short-term shares.

The third thing you need, after you put the image up on the web, is the URL of the image location. On MobileMe, I choose to Share the image and I turn off the time limitation. This produces a URL that I can then share with others.

The fourth and final step, once you have the URL of the image, is to compose a message, paste the URL into the message, highlight the URL in the message, and then click on the square "Img" button at the top of the composition window. This should make the image visible in your message, for as long as the URL/link is good. If it expires, the image will cease to be visible. Some like to pay for online storage, so that the URL/link will stay good indefinitely.

How to insert image/report

Open the image to full size so it is easily read.
I use Vista snipping tool to create a screen shot and crop the image at the same time.
Prt/scr key will also take a screen shot if using XP. If laptop is used sometimes the Fn key has to be pushed at the same time as the prt/scr key
I think windows 7 has the snipping tool.
Once the screen shot is created save it in jpg format.
Upload the image to a host site. I use Photobucket it is free, there are others.
Once the image is uploaded then copy the ENTIRE IMG address. Be sure to include the opening and closing IMG in brackets. Paste that copied address into a post here.
Use the preview button. If you can't see the image try again because if you can't see it we can't.

To take a screenshot on the Mac, hold CMD+SHIFT+4

Click and hold on the upper-left corner of the area you want to capture
Drag to the lower-right corner and release

The screenshot will show up on your desktop.

Using Picasa or Flickr is totally free.... you just grab the url and post it. I use a Mac so screen grab is easy to do with any number of tools. I use SnapNGrab mostly, but a new one I love is Skitch. If you are on PC, I can't help you, but I am sure others will.

Thanks for the tip on the Snipping Tool in Vista. I did not know about that program.

You are most welcome. I used to do a lot of computer helping when I had XP and had to use Paint for cropping and saving or embedding in emails. PITA.

Once I got Vista and discovered the Snipping Tool I pinned it to my start menu. Best thing since sliced bread for someone who sends a lot of emails with screen shots.. Snapshot and crop in one fell swoop. If I want to use Paint to add words, pointers or whatever I can but Snipping Tools saves a lot of tedious steps.
