respcare innomed hybrid assembly question

Post by bayourest » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:44 pm

for those who use innomed respcare hybrid: are there any tricks to getting the mouth piece to actually fit within the mask frame and stay there? I just received a tryout mask from sleepnationtv. i have watched the video and used my common sense to try to get the mouthpiece to fit in the slot around the frame. I can get the small to fit in but particularly at the sides (under where the clips attach) the mouthpiece seems very close to slipping out. It just doesnt seem to want to go all the way into the groove and stay there...
I think small is the correct size for me and I cant imagine getting the med or large to fit in there and stay...I have not tried the mask with pressure yet so that might make a difference, and strapping it all together might help too. For various reasons tonight is not a good night for me to try a new mask and anyway I have only gotten this far with it. But I'd like to get it assembled correctly and try it out tomorrow night. It just seems like there's too much mouth piece to fit in the frame. if anyone who uses this mask has any tips I'd appreciate it.

It's important that the seal is firmly in the groove all the way around the shell, or you'll get serious leaks. Since the seal is flexible, you should be able to get just the edge of it matched up with the groove all the way around the shell (i.e., slightly inserted), and then wiggle it in as far as it'll go, all the way around.

The edge of the seal that fits into the shell's groove is the same size, regardless of which size mouth cushion you're using. It's the other side (the opening for your mouth) that makes the size difference.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

I have had the same problem that you are describing.
The only time it has ever caused me any problems is while putting the mask on(cushion slips out). Once the mask is on I have never had any issues from it.
Every now and then I get a cushion and a frame that just wont match up perfectly.

I have a small mouth piece too and it fits nicely in. Make sure it is right side up. I keep trying to put it in up side down. Once it is on it stays together nicely. Sometimes when I take it off it comes apart because some edge sticks to my skin. Mostly I have a piece of fabric as a guard against that, but sometimes it slips.

thank you all very much.
I suspect it will be a very comfortable mask for me and I really want to give it a good tryout.
But that liner does not want to go all the way in!!
I'll try again and see if I have better luck.

Hey again! You really do have to pay attention installing those cushions but once you've worn it the problem is gone - until - you take it off and have to put it back on again. No big deal in Nawlins!

Enjoy - Jim

Thanks again everyone
I spent some time last night trying to get the assembly right. No way would that small mouthpiece fit in the frame....so I tried the medium which went in perfectly. So I suspect that the small is just oddly misshapen. I tried out the medium with small nasal pillows and there was lots of leakage. The medium was just too big too. So all that being said, I have to say it was very comfortable and I have no doubt that I'd like to get one!! I think a small mouthpiece would fit well and then I would just have to figure out which size nose pillows to use. I think it's doable, and as I said, the whole assembly felt very comfortable.

All sizes should seat equally well in the frame. I would take a picture of the problem and send it to sleepnationtv and ask for a replacement.
