Filter question

Post by ambills » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:52 pm

Hi there:
So, I did this silly/stupid thing yesterday. I was packing up my machine to take it to my 1 mo recheck and checked the filter. Of course it was disgusting, so I took it out (I think I threw it away, but not totally sure of that), packed up the machine and went to the appointment. Fast forward to 10:30 last night when I realize that my replacement filters are not where I thought they should be. An hour later, I gave up and went to sleep without the filter. Here's my question: Am I going to hurt the machine (S9) if I use it while I wait for replacements or should I go to Home Depot and see what I can find for a filter to do for the next couple of nights.

Help?

Thanks,
Michelle

It's surprising that your filter was disgusting...It's either years old or you have pets (smile). Mine don't seem to be noticeably dirty after months and I rarely change them. I could guess that you have your machine directly on the floor where it can pick up dust bunnies. Even if you put it on a phone book all that crap will not be picked up.

I would be hesitant to say without knowing what contaminates your filters not to use some sort of a filter. I would not personally worry about it for a few days.

It wasn't visibly dirty, but I tapped it and a good bit of white dust came off it. I guess it's doing it's job!

Yeah, I have it on my night stand, but things are a little dusty, not bad, but a bit. If I have time to stop at the store and get a small filter to set in there, I think I will, but I won't stress it too much.

Cool, sound good (smile). I should tap mine next time then also.

I see you have the blue mask. I mostly use my swift LT and have a blue nasal and one that came with my machine but can't seem to get use to them. The pillow just seems to be less 'stuff' in you face to me....I do try them now and again for a change. I was a bit dissapointed with the resmed blue gel mask.....
