Swift FX mask size questions?

Post by SueBee » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:34 pm

When I had my sleep study done, and they woke me up to give me a mask, it was a Swift Fx for her, medium. I did pretty well with it, even for never having worn one before. Two weeks later when I went in to get my machine, and instruction, the lady there said she thought I needed a Swift FX with large pillows (Technically that's not "for her" anymore, but "for him" she said)

Anyway, being the obedient person that I am, I starting wearing the large pillows. I found them a little irritating after a couple nights, and that's why I sometimes would switch to the Zest nasal mask to give my nostrils a break. But that one is too noisy for my liking.

Then I decided "the heck with it, I'm going back to the medium nasal pillows". Those seem to give me the best night's sleep - so my question is: In your opinion, is it ok to wear the one I like, rather than the one that lady told me to? (I don't know all the terms - is she the DME?)
Thanks!

By all means wear the one that feels the best to you. DME lady isn't wearing the mask, you are. You are the best judge as to what feels best to you.

Yes, it's ok to sleep with the pillows that make you more comfortable and give you the best night's sleep.

It's your nose. Once you know what you're looking for, you're the one who can best tell what size pillow fits the best in terms of comfort and your therapy.

ABSOLUTELY!

My RT seems to want to stick me in pillows that are a size too small.
