Well, they don't manufacture them anymore and the only place I know to get one is from somebody selling their old one. I would question my doc why he wants me to have an old machine that is not made anymore and was notorious for breaking.

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/Respi ... -CPAP.html
Link above
It is a good machine but it is a discontinued model and though data capable it needs a pricey card reader to use software with the smart card. Did doctor actually order this model or did DME just supply it?

The newer machines are reportedly quieter, easier to use SD data card and software so no need for pricey card reader.
This would be a the equivalent in the newer model below.

Remstar Plus... that SD card will only give hours of use to satisfy insurance requirements. That is all. Nothing particularly useful to you.

You were given the very basic of basic machines. Cheapest for DME to supply and makes them the most money. It will give good therapy but you have no way at all of knowing if the therapy is good or not...If your mask leaks, you won't ever know how much. If the pressure isn't quite right, you will never know. If you have problems, you won't have anyway to check data to see what the problem might be.

Anyway this can be exchanged? How long have you had it.. Are you Medicare patient? Is this an outright purchase or is the insurance doing a "rent to own" purchase?

Humidifier likely was bought outright. Most of the time they are and not usually returnable. So to save a bit of money I would stick with Respironics.. Software is easily available.

This is probably what you have
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... cflex.html

This one has data capabilities. I wouldn't accept anything less than this one below
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... -plus.html

This one is top of the line. APAP and CPAP modes. 2 machines in one. This is the one people try to get but sometimes DME just won't hear of it.

ResMed S9 series Elite or Autoset.. Nothing with the word Escape in it from Resmed. Escape is the bare bones machine in that brand.

The DME probably supplies the Respironics machines, that is why you got one. I doubt they will have the ResMed brand. Any brand can be ordered by any DME but that doesn't mean they will do it.

You might check with your insurance and see if there are any other DMEs that working with your insurance company and see what they offer.
