Got ResScan working!

Post by TalonNYC » Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:11 pm

Thanks to everyone in the forums for the various hints, tricks and alerts. By reinstalling 3.12 without any readers selected, it worked like a charm.

I also used a copy of the data on my machine's SD card, just in case - so thanks for that tip as well.

Results later =)

Hey! Can't figure out how to read the ResScan card that came with my S8. Can you help? Do I need to buy a machine to read the card?? I'm confused!
Thanks!

Ah, can't help there, the S8 needed a card reader, but someone on the board should be able to help you out. Don't give up!

You need a very special card reader. Hard to find. No longer readily supplied since the S8 series has been discontinued.

This is what it looks like. No supplier online that I am aware of. Sometimes I have seen some on Ebay for around $75, might look there.

some members here have been able to make their own. I forget which generic card reader was used, ACR something number and a guide had to be made. Instructions are here at the forum and I think that a search for ACR would get you started.

There may be special cables to transfer data from machine to computer. Have to be very special cables. The computer gurus would need to explain that better because I don't understand it. Something about null...

Edit: A few are on Ebay, appear to be located in Israel. Price for buy it now $99.. OUCH. Starting bid $75 and up.

I'd suspect null modem cables - which are painful to find and worse to try to use.
