Hello Fllow CPAPers,
I am using my machine now for approximately 1.5 years and all seemed well until a couple days ago.
I noticed that my machine wasn't producing any pressure and I checked the error which was a 1019.
I called my supplier and was told to reboot the machine which I do every day anyway since I don't let my machine plugged in during the day.
It seemed to work fine again until I noticed that the pressure seems to work fine but fluctuates. In other words, the pressure raises to the setting but after some time drops and raises to the set pressure again.
Is this normal? Is something wrong with my machine?
I have a ResMed S8 Elite II.
Thanks,
Ralph
CPAP Pressure Fluctuation During Use
Re: CPAP Pressure Fluctuation During Use
Do you use EPR? EPR lowers the pressure by the setting.
Setting of 1 lowers pressure on exhale by 1 cm
Setting of 2 lowers the pressure on exhale by 2 cm
Setting of 3 lowers pressure on exhale by 3 cm.
Is this possibly what you are seeing?

Re: CPAP Pressure Fluctuation During Use
Frankly, I have no idea. I do not see any entry for ERP on my display. Maybe the provider locked it.
Just to make sure, ERP gives me the chance to exhale by lowering the pressure for a short period of time.
Would I feel this? Would the mask be pressed into my face stronger because of the lack of max. pressure?
I try to figure out if this is all normal or if there is something wrong with my machine.
I asked my lady if I snore, if she hears any strange noises (I am adding here - from the machine ), if I sleep normal without gasping for air, etc..
She said that everything seems fine and I sleep good.

You have S8 Elite?
There is data available and EPR should be available also. DME may have disabled your being able to see it.

This link above will have instructions on how to get to clinician menu and turn on stuff and look at data if you don't already.
This is also where people change their pressure so be careful. Also on this page are instructions for getting the clinician menu if you want it.
I don't use a ResMed machine so I can't explain how the EPR might feel with mask on. Perhaps someone else can. Also might help if we knew what pressure it is set on in addition to EPR if it is turned on. If EPR isn't turned on and you continually see variations in pressure that doesn't sound good. Without EPR to reduce pressure on exhale the cpap pressure should remain constant. I would be taking it back to DME for evaluation if EPR on doesn't explain pressure variations.
